How we, as individuals, look at local and national problems and challenges will determine if they are ever to be solved. All too often, the difference is a matter of perspective, and only a matter of a few words.

Dick and Jane graduate from school but can?t read or write. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

Hundreds of thousands of veterans are on the street, living under bridges, and in cardboard boxes. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

The national debt is approaching $10 trillion dollars. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

Tens of millions of Americans cannot afford health insurance. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

Millions of American children go to bed hungry every night. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

Mothers with children are on the street because they can?t afford a place to live. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

Millions of seniors have to make a choice between paying rent, heating their house, buying food or medicine. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

The military is starving for recruits so the country can be defended. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

Corporations are under-funding or draining employee pension funds then passing off the obligations to taxpayers that, while executives are paid lavish salaries and award themselves bonuses. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord.

Some politicians votes are so easily bought and sold that they should be listed on the NY Commodities Exchange. Someone needs to do something about that. Yes, but not me lord. None of this, can or will change, until many more in this country change their reply from Yes, but not me lord, to Yes, me lord.

Two little words, but what a difference in the message, from one of personal denial to one of acceptance of responsibility.
