I’m appalled by what the Mesa County Commissioners said and did. If they had a real concern they should be trying to limit the gas and oil traffic and drilling. Those board members don’t live in an area where there is heavy traffic from gas and oil field workers.
I live in Parachute and it has to been one of the bad spots in Colorado to live right now. The quiet town of Parachute is now bustling with more traffic than it can hold from gas and oil field workers. And when you come down valley from Glenwood Springs into the Silt to Parachute corridor there is this yellowish-brown haze over these towns not to mention the smell and toxic vapors these rigs are emitting.
There is a right way to do this and a wrong way. These companies are going about it the wrong way and the BLM is letting them. The BLM is just as guilty because they don’t care about preserving the land or helping the wildlife. These animals’ winter ranges are being shrunken each year. If we don’t make a stand and do something now there won’t be anything let for the future. It sickens me to drive down I-70 and see all those drilling rigs dotted on the landscape along with the tons of pollution they are emitting into the air.

Another Not in My Backyard do-gooder! If we drilled everywhere in this country that we needed to use our own oil and gas supplies it would drive down the cost and speed up alternative uses, plus make the mid-east a safer place due to less volitle issues.
