Very interesting article in The Daily Sentinel on Feb. 20 about how our tax dollars are being used by the Board of Education.
The taxpayers were sold a bill of goods in order to get Referendum C passed saying some of that money would be for education. Then along comes Bill Ritter freezing the mil levy on our property taxes saying that some of that money would be for education. Now we see where a lot of it went.
Seventeen prime rib dinners, catered breakfasts and lunches, valet parking and snacks for the board members. I really don’t see where spending this money on eight members of the board and 11 others has anything to do with improving our schools.
Where are the checks and balances for this board? According to this article, members spent as much as $60,000 in the past fiscal year on their individual expenses. I would love to have someone else pay for my individual expenses. Heck, I would love for someone else to buy me a prime rib dinner. I do not want to hear one more word about needing more taxes for education!
