Regarding D.L. Smiths letter in the Feb. 22 Daily Sentinel, finding concerns about the gas industry’s impact on the environment “humorous,” I invite him to pull his head out of the sand and breath some fresh air (if he can find any here in the valley).
Additionally, I invite you to come to Parachute, visit what is left of the town and tour some of the county roads in the area — bring a truck since many of the roads are so torn up from gas industry vehicles they are a challenge to negotiate.
I also wonder if he would find it humorous if he listened to two drilling rigs operating loudly 24 hours a day, seven days a week, two blocks behind his home? I’ll bet he’d find this to be a real “gut buster.”
But not to worry, because we all “drink the same water, breathe the same air, etc.” that the rest of us do. That gives me much comfort. However, Smith fails to note that the vast majority of people associated with the energy industry will be long gone from this area when the real impacts of this activity are felt.
