What happened to Gov. Ritter’s campaign promises? One of Ritter’s newest plans is to increase the vehicle registration tax, disguised as a “fee,” to help fund highways. Another plan to fund highways is to increase fuel taxes.

The problem with both plans is that no one will be able to afford to register or operate vehicles. With that in mind the reasoning for improving roads would be useless because no one would be driving on them. And another plan of Ritter’s, which already took place, increased our property taxes.

These plans were orchestrated by purposefully finding a loophole so they could be forced through rather than letting the public voting on them, which is required by TABOR. And if that isn’t enough, the newest legislation that is being bullied through by the Democrats is going to raise the cost of health care by allowing greater ability for health-care providers to be subject to ridiculous lawsuits.

This new Democratic legislation is the exact opposite of what Ritter promised during his campaign, which was a promise to make dramatic changes in Colorado’s health care system. Well, Ritter might have actually kept that promise. The legislation, which I’m sure Ritter is chomping at the bit to sign, will have a dramatic effect in how much more we’ll have to pay for health care.
Unfortunately, while we are trying to balance our own checkbooks, we also have to try to figure out how we’re going to afford to drive to work, pay our mortgage and handle rising medical bills. Why doesn’t the government have to operate in the same manner?

Gee, a politician that just can’t seem to remember his campaign promises.

What a new concept in government.

The division of wildlife keeps running ads that brag about all the good they do without spending a dime of taxpayer money.

Here’s a new concept for the bureaucrats to chew on.

ANY TIME MONEY(regardless of label) FLOWS FROM THE PRIVATE SECTOR TO THE PUBLIC SECTOR, IT IS A TAX.

A “fee” (user or any other label) is a TAX.

If you are required to PAY for a permit it IS A TAX.

If you are required to PAY for a LICENSE, it IS A TAX.(even if it is a hunting or fishing license)

If money flows from your pocket to the government coffers, and you do not receive a tangible asset, you just paid a TAX.

If you build a house and pay a TAP FEE, you pay a TAX.

ritter is a democrat, bill clinton is a democrat. What is the definition of “is” anyway?

The next BALLOT initiative should be something along the lines of

Violation of campaign promises without solid, LEGAL reasons should be a felony criminal offense with mandatory hard labor, prison time in the same prisons murderers and rapist get to attend.

Another should provide a provision for retracting a persons vote for any candidate if that candidate fails to live up to expectations based on campaign promises.

After all, if they get to change their minds after the election, we should be able to also.
