“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon
probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Thus the Fourth Ammendment to our Constituion clearly sets forth the path to lawful searches and seizures. Comes now the FISA bill, which would overturn one of our most precious freedoms.
Sold as a necessity to fight the war on terror, it is in reality a political payoff to the phone companies. It is such because it contains a clause which would provide retroactive immunity to
those companies for deeds occurring in the past. And we don’t know nor will under the legislation what is being forgivin.
It’s hard to imagine as more distructive to our civil liberties a piece of legislation than this. Congress ought to relegate this to the scrap heap of history.
This drivel demonstrates the wisdom of the Fourth Ammendment and our forefathers.

Jan, Perhaps you missed something?
Maybe if you attended a government indoctrination center, THEY neglected to mention a few minor little details.
So, in order to alleviate any misconceptions on your Constitutionally GUARANTEED Rights. (not-granted rights-)
Here is a web site that helps clarify some details.
http://www.civil-liberties.com/pages/dead.html
This particular page only relates to the “Bill of Rights” and their current state of health after congress has worked its magic.
