I seriously doubt my friend Henrietta Hay needs me to come to her defense but I would like to say to Mr. Ruth and others who would criticize her preference for Hillary Clinton, you should be so dedicated at age 93.

Not many of us will live and accomplish as much as Henrietta. None of us, if we live that long, will have the brains and writing skills Henrietta continues to exhibit in her column.

For my part, I seriously doubt Henrietta and I have voted the same too often. Support for the Mesa County Public Library and an increase in taxes for School District 51 come to mind. But one thing I know — we have had some wonderful conversations about American government and politics.

When politicians and pundits preach about values and living by their principles, they could take a lesson from my friend. God has blessed Henrietta. May he continue to do so for years to come.
