Ok bullishfrog, you pick up my share of your higher taxes scheme.

Why is it the first thing people want to do is raise taxes?

When you allow taxes to be raised, you give more money to incompetent twits that have no concept of the value of money.

I don’t know what you do for a living bullishfrog, but I bet the money you want to give to stupid people to spend wasn’t just handed to you with no strings attached.
You had to jump through whatever hoops you employer placed in front of you the “earn” your keep.

And now, you want to just give more away ’cause it’ll make you feel good”?

Tell me, now that ritter doesn’t need the revenue he stole from your property taxes for education, why doesn’t he return it?

Why are you going to allow him to spend it on somebody else’s health care?

Why do you have to pay for your families health care, and somebody else’s family health care too anyway?
And, as an aside, if you are a renter and you don’t pay property taxes, feel free to mention that little fact to your landlord.

First, we need to reduce demand by raising the price of oil. The best way to do that is by raising taxes, signficantly, on gasoline and diesel.

Go the route of the Europeans and watch how Americans switch to smaller, more efficient cars, in a hearbeat.

Second, increase domestic supplies by allowing for drilling in Anwar and offshore the US.

We need an energy policy that reduces, over time, our consumption of oil. First, for national security reasons, in order to reduce our reliance on foreign sources, and secondly, because global oil supplies will diminish over time and we need an orderly transition to other fuel sources. First, we need to reduce demand by raising the price of oil. The best way to do that is by raising taxes, signficantly, on gasoline and diesel. Go the route of the Europeans and watch how Americans switch to smaller, more efficient cars, in a hearbeat. Do it over timie so folks have a chance to switch to smaller vehicles. Better for the US to pick up the tax revenues, rather than the Arabs, and use it to subsidize oil alternative projects. Second, increase domestic supplies by allowing for drilling in Anwar and offshore the US. That’s were the oil is, not in Manhattan. Do it as carefully as possible to minimize the impact on the environment. Will some birds and animals be displaced? Maybe, tell them they are doing it for their country. Third, build nuclear power plants with the aim being to use electricity to power cars. In the end, using nuclear derived electricity will reduce CO2 emmissions. That’s my plan, now let’s do it.

But dc, your position seems to be based on the theory that O&G is out to destroy everything it touches.

As long as the so-called Public Utilities Commissar is allowed to grant whatever permissions as are necessary to rape the public, then nothing any other government agency does matters.

There’s another article in todays paper that states quite plainly, your utility bills are going up.

This increase is due entirely to a shortage of natural gas in this area.

We have common ground, you just have a different opponent.

I have a problem with a government that ALLOWS the rape and pillage of the populace.

You have a problem with the people that bought the rights to rape and pillage.

OUR common foe should be the corrupt people in government.

So, out of curiosity, how well does the Prius bounce off bumpers of large cars?

OK, Now we see how you like the taste of your own medicine. The fact is, we all need oil and gas, just like we need air and water and trees. Just because we (tree huggers and other subversives) are trying to keep the O&G industry responsible and protect our air and water doesn’t mean we don’t deserve to use the stuff. I drive a 3/4 ton diesel sometimes because I can’t haul a 7,000 lb. job trailer with our Prius. Does that mean I should shut up about 1,200,000 gallons of toxic crap your boys just dumped into Garden gulch? Or their plan to drill into a nuclear blast site? I think not. Your rhetoric is tiresome. It makes no more sense than the BS I threw at you in my previous post.

If you ever have something intelligent to say, bring it to a public forum where you have to look people in the eye when you spout your drivel.

Seriously?

You and others of your persuasion feel the need to outlaw the release of CO2 into the atmosphere, yet the trees you hug REQUIRE CO2 to survive.

Why are you trying to hug your trees to death?

You worry about “greenhouse gases”, but run ads showing desolate, arid desert landscapes showing the end result of all those evil gases.
Go visit your local greenhouse and make note of how arid and desert like it is in there, then get back to us.

As an aside dc, my vehicles are big enough to protect my family in case your friends are on the public thoroughfares at the same time we are.

It may cost me a little more to drive, but MY family is worth it, why isn’t yours?

I already breathe through one of those little tubes, it’s the closest I can get to decent air whenever people like you are in the area.

Hey Willis! Why don’t you stop breathing the air? We will get you a canister of that fine stuff they allow to escape from the condensate tanks and the glycol separators and you can get one of those little nose tubes so you can breathe it all day. Oh, yeah. Don’t you be drinking anymore of our clean water. We will get you a couple of big barrels of that oily goo the industry dumped into Parachute creek. You can drink that.

Good plan! As long as we might have 50 years, why worry? Within that time frame China and India, combined or individually, will dwarf our usage. Of course we’ll be dependant for many years into the future but why put off the inevitable need for alternatives? We may always have a worldwide supply that will allow us to have some percentage of our needs covered by oil but it is plain pie-in-the-sky to think that any significant part of our needs can be covered by domestic drilling without degradation of our environment. Quality of life depends on enjoying the scenic and wild places as well as all the things that energy availability provides. Wishful thinking rarely is productive. Contrary to the thinking of some, there will and should be, life in this country after it has been passed on to the stewardship of future generations. Pass on to them more than just our debts.

Not a chance of it running out when combined with oil shale and the mid east oil.
If you think that alternative energy is the cure-all you are living in a dream world. We will be dependent on oil for a minimum of 50 years maybe even much longer. Almost everything used in day to day living is made from oil products. Cars are a drop in the barrel compared to the big picture. Open your eyes, almost every single thing used is related to oil. That cannot stop overnight!Quit being part of the problem!
