My comments are in reference to the comments from Gordon Vetter about Ken Henry, who is running for mayor of Fruita. It seems to me businesses often go where they are given breaks, not just a “pay as you go” attitude. Those breaks can be in the form of tax breaks, fee breaks and assistance in zoning requirements, etc. After all they pay sales tax and employ our citizens, which helps to put money back in the city coffers, which could have been lost on the “pay as you go” attitude.
Of course I am not as smart as Mr. Vetter, since my specialty was business law and business administration and my wife was in business accounting. We were also Real Estate brokers and business owners for over 26 years. I guess that is why he is on the city counsel and we are not.

One Response to “Tax breaks work better for business”

Larry,
When you were a “business person”, did you pay taxes?
Or, perhaps, you merely included any taxes you and your business were liable for in the cost of goods and services to your customers?
Would it be fairly accurate to say that ALL taxes are paid by the bottom rung of the ladder, ie; the consumer?
Just getting my ducks all gathered up….
