All those “free marketeers” in the Republican Party should actually be called “Free Mouseketeers.” Whenever it comes down to the government bailing out financial institutions, they seem to just disappear into the woodwork.

And I would like to thank all those candidates in the Republican debates for so wistfully trying to invoke the ghost of Ronald Reagan. It made me absolutely nostalgic for the savings and loan bailouts, for Silverado and Neil Bush, and for the Keating Five, including, incidentally, Sen. John McCain himself.

Oh, how I pine for those easy victories over Granada and Panama!
