I recently had a visit from a sheriff’s deputy. He was there to inform me I could be arrested if I again told my neighbor I would shoot her dog if it attacked me or my wife on our property again.

I was told if the dog was biting my leg or arm I could not use a firearm to protect myself or wife unless it had me down and was going for my neck. Never mind that this dog was 1/4 mile from his home and attacked us in front of our door. Never mind this was the sixth time we were threatened by it or that other neighbors and their children were threatened on many occasions or that we feel we must carry a bat to even go for a walk. Never mind the neighbor has been warned before and does not take it serious.

I guess my concern is why the deputy was at my house and not hers? Maybe we should have a “make my day” law for dogs. Maybe we should all just remain in our homes so we do not interfere with the wild dogs running free or defend ourselves in a way we can be arrested for?

Bob, hilkey doesn’t care what you think your rights are.

If he can get you to walk outside with your firearm and shoot the dog, he will be able to call out his mini army and play war with you as the enemy.

But, if that comes to pass Bob, I will do everything I can to make it on the jury.

    Oh, and about animal control?

It’s a political office with no responsibilities to the citizens of the county.

On a side note, a small jar of battery acid dumped on the dog should keep it away.

soak some dogfood in anti freeze and leave it in the street. see how that works. dogs like this should be taken away and the owners fined.

I absolutely agree that feral or aggressive dogs should be put down and the owner should be fined. If a dog is attacking you, you should have the right to shoot it.
HOWEVER, if someone dumps battery acid on a dog or poisons it with antifreeze (which is a very slow and agonizing death), I will do everything I can to make it on THAT jury. Shame on you two!

People who say they sleep like a baby usually don't have one.

i to have threatening dogs in my neighborhood. they even jumped my fence and killed two of my poodles. called the law and dog pound with no luck. i cannot even leave my children outside alone in feat that the dogs will get them. my husband and i were told that we couldnt cause harm to these dogs or risk jail time. DO you think we could put our lives before these violent dogs.

Well, you could always call your favorite district attorney and ask if the “make my day” law applies equally to dangerous animals..
But when you do call, keep in mind that he really doesn’t care how many people get killed or maimed, as long as the average citizens does not own firearms for any reason, much less self defense.

PS. he carries all the time for his own protection.

This mans thought is to realize that any person that uses a firearm to inflict death, mame, or do bodily harm is more a danger to him/herself than the actual animal itself. There are correct avenues to take in the process of stopping the dangerous animal attacks. Learn what they are and proceed in that manner. One might consider a humane trap fo instance! This is a vicious animal and a human has no right to be just as, if not more vicious, keep them fire arms at bay. Every human has a right to protect themselves from harm from any situation, just use your brain and not a firearm. And don’t take the advice of a animal hater that suggests using any form of acids or antifreeze, or any other form of chemicals. Its true that only makes the animal suffer and make it want to attack someone else durring its painful slow death. C’mon people stop getting angry and just use what god gave you….a brain.

Well, according the the “thoughtful” person….: ” This mans thought is to realize that any person that uses a firearm to inflict death, mame, or do bodily harm is more a danger to him/herself than the actual animal itself.”

His/her opinion is that if there is a firearm around, the owner/user is going to shoot themselves with it.

You do realize that facts do not support your position?

Are you aware that reality backs our position?

Did your mommy ever tell you that gun grabber groups will lie and distort statistics to warp your tender little mind?

And then there is this: ” There are correct avenues to take in the process of stopping the dangerous animal attacks. Learn what they are and proceed in that manner.”

So, we’re supposed to sit down with the vicious animal, share a couple cups of koolaid, get to know them, sing a few lines of kumbaya, and convince them that we’re really just good friends in different skins?

Try that and get back with us and let us know that outcome.

You could even talk to the original poster and try that on his neighbors dogs, and cure his problem first.

We are here to help our neighbors, right? so go forth, save the world, and maim is not spelled mame….

In reply to MR. WILLIS JOHNSONS’ statement towards my personal opinion. Glad to see we have a spelling bee with us. Thanks for the correction! As far as my mommy…Mr. don’t you ever talk about my mother unless you want to talk to me directly!! And further more, I am not some punk kid.Don’t bother taking your anguish out on me or my mother for posting an opinion that I and everyone else has a right to have. And your accusations about shooting yourself is exactly that AN ACCUSATION.I’m not in any position to attempt to save the world. Just to voice an opinion, so exhaust yourself with pungent remarks towards my mother and my opinions all you want. I think your neighbor needs a better rep. You attack just like that dog did.And who ever suggested that the proper procedure was to do anything as creative as have KOOL-AID with this animal??? Get a grip on your explitives.

    Oh DARN!!!

    I think I struck a nerve….

I was speaking directly to you. And as far as your mommy, I merely inquired into your upbringing.
And as to your “punk kid”, yep, yoou pretty much proved yourself unable to communicate coherently.

I did not “attack” I only asked if kumbaya was your chosen refrain while you’re sitting with the dog. To refresh your memory: “Learn what they are and proceed in that manner”…

Now how better to discover what they are than to sit down and discuss the issue at hand?

See, we already know that they are vicious animals, but you feel the need to study them or something.

You seem to be of the impression that guns are bad.

Two places to learn that bit of drivel, home or government indoctrination centers.

And then you finish with this bit… “Get a grip on your explitives.”…

Interesting, I used no expletives (note the spelling), so I have no need to get a grip on them.
