Motorhomes don’t follow same laws as commerical vehicles

The article entitled “State Patrol accident investigation could take 2 weeks” in the March 14 edition of The Daily Sentinel, contains misinformation regarding federal transportation laws.

Under the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Regulations only those vehicles of 10,001 pounds and over which are “commercial vehicles” are required to follow the regulations.

Thus private use of motorhomes or trucks and trailers or some agricultural vehicles and others are only required to follow these regulations if they are in commerce. However, this does not mean that they do not have to follow other laws.

    Do these other laws include having a different licence to drive it? Cause there should be.

    Any ol’ farmer can operate any ol thing that says farm on it.

    That includes quite a bit of machinery.
