Sanctuary cities like Grand Junction do not have to advertise they are. Those whom it hides, already know the officials here will turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to their very presence. It comes down to the process and the paperwork. The process and the paperwork involved to deal with this statewide problem comes down to: “official laziness.” The system is broken, no one who can fix it wants to.
There are basic steps we can take to determine if someone is here illegally. If I, as a common citizen of the United States, can figure it all out, our own law enforcement (a contradiction of terms), can also know the steps to take a lot easier and faster than I can. But, our local agencies would rather not — to much of a hassle unless it‘s a big case they say, referring to I.C.E.
Our local Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency would rather switch than fight for the very country it is mandated to uphold, because the crimes of the illegals are not “big” enough for them to deal with. As they see it, being an illegal in Mesa County is not a big enough crime in and of itself to have to deal with. Our law enforcement agencies would rather have a van full of dead Mexicans than to deal with the single driver before the mayhem takes place.
If we were to put up a fence, this agency would be the first one’s touting, “Tear down this wall” tear down this wall. Not doing anything about the individual illegal problem has created a sanctuary city here in Grand Junction. And no one cares. No one cares of the cost to our families, nor the costs to our government.
Letting the illegals ride until they really break the law makes no sense to me. I do not understand how we can fight for so much in the wars that we have fought as a free nation, then, to just roll over and turn over a blind eye and a deaf ear to a problem that is growing by one illegal person at a time. It is unfathomable to me to see what we are becoming.

Try asking the city or the county if there are any illegal aliens on the payroll and see what kind of answer you get John.
When the illegals held their protest march and publicity meeting, several persons of illegal status stood up and admitted they had jobs because of stolen social security numbers.
At that meeting there were numerous “law enforcement” and “detectives” in the room, but no arrests were made.
Sooner or later, somebody is going to be arrested and hauled into court and defend themselves with the lax enforcement of laws, then only applying those laws in certain circumstances.
’twill be an interesting thing to watch.
prosecutorial harrassment, what a concept!

The case in my point is that I have an abducted grand daughter all right here in Fruita. (You can see her picture at the Fruita City Market bulletin board). The GJPD was able to locate the father of my grand daughter but came back with “we don’t see that the baby is in harms ways” and “we think the father is here legally.” He is not. For me, US rights do not associate themselves with any nationality who is here un-rightfully. The father my daughter’s ex boy friend, the supposed father of the baby, does not have any legal rights’ here in the US at all nor to have the child. The agencies involved do not want to get it involved, it is easier for them to say he is here legally then to actually find out.
I had been working with Mr. Gary Harmon of the DS who, just last week were going to run a story about my daughter’s situation and the hassle it is for a US citizen to actually practice the rights she was born with against an individual who is here in the US illegally. Guess who is winning?
My daughter was able to tell the GHPD Commander Greg in particular who her ex boy friend Jose’ “Chino” Delfino Martinez works for, they in turn learned where Jose’ was living, checked on the baby, BUT THAT WAS ALL! I am glad to know my grand daughter is safe, but the argument remains, who has a right to have the child in their care: The illegal or the US citizen? I’m not sure what it is, but I can’t get away from it, “it the single person who holds US Citizenship who should have the child in their care.” Every US agency who is not stepping up to the plate on this one and other stories like our’s right here in Mesa county are in fact breaking Federal Laws. As it stands right now I hold all of them under Citizen arrest!
What say you?

Well, I think you make the point very clearly that Mesa County is a safe haven for illegal aliens.
The illegals know it, the local governments know it, the “law enforcement” agencies know it.
The Citizens if this area know it, but OUR RIGHTS are of no consequence to the criminal elements in all branches of all the local government.

In catching up on my Immigration law this morning Sec. 287. [8 U.S.C. 1957] Claims: That any officer or employee of the Services is authorized without warrant to: 1) Interrogate any alien or person believed to be an alien as to his or her right to remain in the US. Officers do it in Arizona, why not here?
2) They can also make arrest if they have reasons to believe the illegal alien is here illegally (through interrogation and proof of legal status.
As far as “catching” the illegal breaking a federal law in the US. Being in the United States illegally is a Federally broken law. All an officer has to do is ask, and wait for proof of citizenship or a Green Card. Asking though brings on the attitude from local agencies: “That’s not in my job description.” We are killing ourselves one illegal allowance at a time.
Thank you for your comments.

You are right tiag. The Republicans who run Mesa County do not care about its legal citizens. As long as they can make a quick buck off of hiring cheap labor, Republicans will never get 100 percent behind immigration enforcement. Sure, they will pay lip service to score cheap political points, like Josh Penry did during the Colorado immigration laws debate, but they know how much money they make off of illegal labor and Republicans are not about to give up their golden goose. It is simple. If there were not Americans hiring illegal immigrants there would be no draw for them to come here.
You can give thanks for our current situation to Ronald Reagan and the Republicans who passed amnesty in 1987 in order to keep a steady stream of cheap labor. Nothing has changed. They would be out of business if they had to pay fair wages.
tiag: If your granddaughter’s baby’s father is working here then his employer is required to check on his legal eligibility to work. What company does he work for? You could ask them if they have verified his status. But if you are serious about getting to the bottom of it, you should probably speak with an attorney and see if you need to file a custody case. I would say that you might seek the assistance of DHS but as I understand it now, Janet Rowland has so deteriorated that department that they can be as much of the problem as the solution. If you really want answers to your questions, I’d say your best bet would be to seek legal counsel.

Golly cassie, you think it’s the republicans fault.
There would seem to be a comprehension gap.
The “republicans” have been trying for years to control our borders, the democrats have fought them every step of the way.
Now, you must keep in mind, in Mesa County, democrats have a hard time getting elected, but a non-republican can register as a republican. Run under the republican banner and get elected.
If you can find a politician in Mesa county that toes the party line more than, say, 40% of the time, please feel free to out them for us.
“republicans” believe in smaller government, Individual RIGHTS, property RIGHTS, less government interference in CITIZENS lives, etc.
I see none of those values exhibited by any of the elected folks in local governments.
When Reagan was in office, the democrats passed the amnesty of which you speak.
Unless you consider teddy (drunk driver/murderer) kennedy a republican, in which case there are numerous mental disorder specialists in the valley willing to help you in your time of need.

Best know your facts before you tout them, Cassie!

Cassie, I am a Republican, and know that there can be faults found on either side of the fence. My daughter is seeking parental custody through the court system, but you wouldn’t believe the hassle she has had to go through to get any privilege you would think were due her. With the GJPD touting that this guy is here legally, (WHICH HE IS NOT), there actions have put a near halt to my actions to investigate this idiot, get my grand daughter home and send him packing. But tell me, Why would a legal immigrant move after the police come by and check on the baby, if he/she is here legally why run, why hide?
If the baby has been moved which she may have been over the weekend, I have our idiot police system to thank.
There is a train, a human smuggling system linked to Vail, CO under the direction of Marcos Baltran. Joes’ “Chino” Felfino Martinez lived first in Vail when coming here from Mexico. I told the GJPD about it, they just blew me off.
Marcos Baltran, is a contractor who goes way out of his way to hire illegal aliens. He has gone so far as to go back to Mexico to pick up his workers who have been deported, and brings them back. This problem is all around us, I protest it all I want, so what! I can protest all I want but those who need to act, those who can with the more authority then I won’t. If their little grand daughter were mine, she would be home right now with the babies mother, my daughter gets the once in a life time (because no one wants to go through this more then once) screw around from her own government.
I used to respect our Police Department, told my kids all their growing up years they could always call the cops and help would come, they nor I believe that any more.
Republican or Democrat, we are being sold up the river, and no one cares.
Cassie I have written a letter to DHS, we are in a wait-n-see mode, It is just unbelievable to me that we are going through this. Every time I look at my grand daughters picture I can hear her say, come get me grand pa, come get me. And no one cares!
