I received a flyer in the mail from Rep. John Salazar. Did you? The topic was, “A Report From Congressman Salazar About The Economic Stimulus Package.”

This was, I must say, was a waste of time and money, taxpayer money according to the back page of the flyer. There was nothing in this flyer that we have not already heard about, either in the papers or on the news, over the last two months. I feel that the money could, or should, have been used for something of more significance.

This whole “rebate” is a joke anyway. Don’t get me wrong I want the money, but not because they say we can have it, but because it is ours to begin with. We are charged way too much tax on everything we buy.

If the government really wants to stimulate the economy, let them do so by doing away with income taxes as we know them and just move on and set up a flat sales tax of 10 percent on everything we purchase. That way every person who buys anything will pay the same tax percent.

I don’t mind if their are people who make more than me. That is a fact of life. Hey there are people who make less than me, too. But when it comes time to spend our money, we will all pay the same tax. That seems very fair to me. The government giving this to us a ruse. The economy is in trouble but they can’t admit it. This stimulus pay out is just like bailing out a leaking boat, with a coffee cup, sooner or later, we are going to sink.
