In spite of the most inept and incompetent federal government in our nation’s history, our space program continues to flourish, giving us something to really be proud of ,in addition to an undying appreciation for our troops who are protecting the freedom of the world.

After watching a perfect landing of Endeavor after its 15-day mission, with a record of overwhelming proficiency in performance of outer space projects and accomplishments (plus returning to Earth), I have to wonder why our presidential candidates and congressional leaders can’t just meet the challenges here on Earth to do the obvious.

What are the obvious? Considering that we are the most dynamic, civilized nation in the world, what is wrong with the following?
·Addressing the priorities of economic stability and controlled spending.
·Stopping the utter waste of our tax money with “earmarking ” and other totally wasteful projects.
·Being honest by eliminating spin, misrepresentation and “misremembering.”
·Understanding that constituents are citizens, not pawns.
·Serving the best interest of our nation, rather than for personal gain.

These elections — presidential, congressional, et al. — look to be simply another exercise of “voting against” because of concerns rather than “voting for” because of convictions. It’s too bad that it is not a matter of who is more dedicated and tells the truth, rather matter of who spins better and lies more.

It isn’t rocket science! It’s a matter of conscience, commitment and pride in performance.

Why can’t our nation’s leadership contenders merely accept the challenge of performing a meaningful mission and accepting responsibility for its successful completion?

Anyway, thank you NASA for another near-perfect mission sponsored by a government that should take a few lessons on how to prioritize and perform accordingly.

God Bless America.
