We, the people, have lost control of our government and there is only one way I know of to get it back: We must vote the incumbents out of office and elect people who will do the will of the electorate who send them to Washington.
We wanted term limits but couldn’t get them. So, let’s make our own term limits, using our votes. It was never intended for members of Congress to have career positions in Washington, like Sen. Ted Kennedy and others have.
When politicians get to Washington, they only have two goals: to get re-elected and to enrich themselves. Washington, D.C., has become a cesspool of corruption. Congress is spending our tax dollars like there is no tomorrow.
Recently, a bill calling for a moratorium on pork-barrel spending, called “earmarks,” was voted down. Of course those politicians don’t want to give up spending our money on special-interest projects for their home territories. That’s how they buy votes — with our money.
I say, let’s boot them out of Washington in the next election and put people in their place who will do something to stop this run-away train of wasteful spending and vote-buying. The nation’s $7 trillion debt is killing us!
