I would like to comment on the protest held for Bud Glover by students at Grand Junction High School. I am not a student of GJHS. As a matter of fact, I graduated from Palisade High School more than 20 years ago. I do however hope you’ll take the time to read my comments.
Most people would think, as long as I’ve been out of school, that I would have long forgotten about Bud Glover. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Bud Glover first entered my life in third grade as my Pee Wee Wrestling Coach. He continued to coach me in Pee Wee Wrestling through the sixth grade, was my fourth and fifth grade teacher at Clifton Elementary and later was my wrestling coach (with Gene Wilder) at Palisade High School.
I have to say when I heard about Mr Glover’s contract not being renewed, I was shocked to say the least! I then immediately felt sad — not for Mr. Glover but for all the many others in this community who will no longer have the opportunity to learn, grow, be mentored by and taught the countless other little things Bud Glover taught every student or athlete he encountered.
He taught me not only the educational requirements of his job but also about leadership, compassion, teamwork, accountability and the standards that made me the man I am today.
I’m incredibly proud to have been influenced by this amazing man. Kudos to every student who made a stand on his behalf. Please remember this is a man who made a real difference in people’s lives. Continue to champion for someone who has done the same for you.

This is a big mistake to let Bud Glover go. He is a very good coach and teacher. He has been coaching for a very long time and is a good coach. My son was coached by Bud about 8 or 9 years ago and he tought my son a lot. My son looked up to him and respected him. To let Mr. Glover go would be the biggest mistke that the school district can do.He has influnced our hispanic children and we need more teachers like Mr. Glover , that our hispanic children can look up to.
