The caption on the picture of the Air Force plane at the in this morning’s paper didn’t point out that it is evidence of our tax dollars at work to help support the candidacy of Bob Schaffer.

Yes, I know that “they all do it” but it just shows how everything about our election process is out of control. Those in power use public funds to further their own interests and the equation of speech and money creates a never-ending spiral upward by our public “servants” into prostitution for the interests of donors.

Neither party is free from the subservience to special interests trumping the good for the wider constituency. There is no “genius of the American political system” displayed by our election process.

What an absolute waste of tax dollars, energy, police, and newsprint. Cheney should instead be locked up for lies & war crimes. It’ll take much more than prominent crimnal support & flag waving to get Schaffer elected.

  2. Rexall

Last time I checked one must do something illegal to be locked up and since there is no facts supporting war crimes he cannot be charged there either. Just because you happen to dislike him does not mean he has done anything wrong.

    1. Cheney purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States by fabricating a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction to justify the use of the United States Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq in a manner damaging to our national security interests.

    2. Cheney purposely manipulated the intelligence process to deceive the citizens and Congress of the United States about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda in order to justify the use of the United States Armed Forces against the nation of Iraq in a manner damaging to our national security interests.

    3. Cheney has openly threatened aggression against the Republic of Iran absent any real threat to the United States, and done so with the United States proven capability to carry out such threats, thus undermining the national security of the United States.

    4. Cheney led a campaign of retribution against whistleblower Joseph Wilson, including the outing of a covert CIA operative.

    5. Cheney led efforts to torture.

    6. Cheney played a key role in setting up illegal spying programs.

    7. Cheney led manipulation of pre-war intelligence.

    8. Cheney created the secret Energy Task Force which operated in defiance of open-government laws.

    9. Cheney directed massive no-bid contracts to his company, Halliburton, and profited from the same illegal war he defrauded the American public to launch.

    10. And so on and so forth……….

    Chancho,
You do have a very vivid imagination don’t you? How do you function daily with such gross exaggerations bouncing around in your head?

  5. Tonya

People can’t “function daily” if thay believe something others do not? If that were the case no one could “function.”

    DUUUUYYYYYY
    *drool*
Someone come and empty my bedpan! I can’t function, darn it!

  6. Curmudgeon

Chancho can function because he has these things called “rational thoughts” and “logic” in his head, rather than open space, and that gives less room for bouncing. Or, for that matter, for spoon-fed thought from your friendly neighborhood media outlet. But, hey, ignorance is bliss.

And, Tonya, stop making fun of Republicans. Unless it’s a Bill Clinton or Al Gore song parody on Rush Limbaugh, they won’t get the joke.

  7. Rexall

What does rational thought and his accusations of Bush and Cheney have to do with each other?

  8. Curmudgeon

    Okay, I’ll explain it.
“Rational Thought” allows you to examine information and come to your own conclusion, based on your experience and intelligence, rather than accepting everything you’re told by the people in charge without question or analysis. It’s how we learned about things like the solar system, a round earth, and other crazy, wacky ideas.
    How’s that?

  9. Rexall

Oh I see! If I had rational thought then I would believe people when they lie to me about other people just because they hate those people. Am I close?

  10. Curmudgeon

    No….let me try again…..slowly…..
You would form your own opinions, and not believe everything you were told.

Okay, try it again, but imagine it’s Bill Clinton, telling you, “I never had sex with that woman”…Now, see how easy it is to think for yourself? Give it a try. I know it hurts. But it’ll get easier, the more you do it.

  11. Rexall

Ok, I’ll try again—-oh yea, much easier when I picture an unhonorable guy lying to me—-I can form the thought that he is truly a scum bag!

  12. Curmudgeon

    BINGO! Success!!

  13. dc

I believe that would be ” dishonorable “, Rexall. Do try to keep up, old chap.

When Air Force One is used for a campaign trip, depending on who is seated in the White House, either the RNC or the DNC picks up a majority of the 36,000 dollars an hour that it costs to operate.

“Well, he/she did it” is never an excuse, at least for the intellectually and emotionally mature person. They recognize it as for what it is, the rationalization one might expect from a child. Some of us did learn in our upbringing that the failure of others, even if more egregious, never excuses even our own minor failures. To believe otherwise is not only disingenuous and intellectually dishonest but can only lead to a downward spiral, not only into mediocrity, but acceptance of corruption. To analyze the central message, it is: ‘They are worse than I am” or “Yes, I am corrupt but the other is more corrupt than I am” so, vote for me’ How nonsensical is such an argument is patently obvious, and those who do might do quite well to examine where are their priorities and motivations for doing so.
