Rush Limbaugh this week quoted a study that claimed that 80 percent of the Arab world hates America. He sounded like he had no clue why they hated us. Let me pose a question.

If America has supplied most of the bombs, tanks and support to devastate Lebanon, flatten Palestinian refugee camps and keep many Palestinian natives captive in the land they claimed as home for 2,000 years and you were a Muslim, would you think kindly of us?

What if you knew America vetoed most of the U.N. resolutions to stop Israeli injustice toward the Palestinians? Would you not feel maybe we were racist? Would you not, as a Muslim, feel the Americans hated them?

I regret so many Americans seem to refuse to understand how their feeling toward us came about. How can we be so one-sided against the Arabs and not know why there is such hatred against us.

Whether 80% or 70% or whatever % of the Arab world hates us, is not surprising. The Arab world is ruled by despots who care little for their citizens and only seek to enrich themselves. Despots need to divert the desperate state of their citizens by finding a target, other than themselves, to direct the hatred felt by those in terrible living conditions. So they indoctinate their children to hate jews and infidels in general. They have used the Palestinians like puppets in order to keep tension high in the area and, again, focus the anger of their citizens away from them. They told the Palestinians to leave Israel after the UN ordered partition, telling them that they were going to kill all the jews in Israel and they should get out of harm’s way. Then, when the Arabs were soundly defeated, and many Palestinians were out of Israel and residing in Arab countries, Arab governments refused to absorb them. That is in sharp contrast to jews expelled from Arab countries who were welcomed in Israel.

All Israel wants is to live in peace with its neighbors. All its neighbors want is to destroy Israel. Israel has the power to destroy its enemies but, unlike its enemies, it has respect for human life. If their approach to being opposed and continuously attacked was similar to the Arab approach, the Palestinians would have been totally wiped out by now.

Israel must defend itself and protect its citizens. As long as the Arab objective is to destroy Israel, there will not be peace. Maybe Mr. Uhl believes the US should seek Arab approval by backing the destruction of Israel.

    UH! Bob,

Can you tell of one good thing that the Muslim “religion” has done for the world? I did not think so. You cannot say the same of Israel and the Jews and of Christianity. The muslims hate us because we are “infadels” and that will never change. Do you think there will be peace between Palestine and Israel? Nope. Never. Israel fought to get there land back. They won. Thanks for shopping! Israel treats women and children with respect, how about the muslims? Nope. Forget the smack talking muslims and lets worry about helping Israel and let the chips fall where they may.

At the risk of humoring a terrifyingly ignorant post from 11ches, here are but a few good things that Islam has done for the world:

    The first public hospitals.
    The first public libraries.
The first inception of a market economy.

“Some of the inventions believed to have come from the Islamic Golden Age include the camera obscura, coffee, hang glider, flight controls, soap bar, shampoo, pure distillation, liquefaction, crystallisation, purification, oxidisation, evaporation, filtration, distilled alcohol, uric acid, nitric acid, alembic, crankshaft, valve, reciprocating suction piston pump, mechanical clocks driven by water and weights, programmable humanoid robot, combination lock, quilting, pointed arch, scalpel, bone saw, forceps, surgical catgut, windmill, inoculation, smallpox vaccine, fountain pen, cryptanalysis, frequency analysis, three-course meal, stained glass and quartz glass, Persian carpet, modern cheque, celestial globe, explosive rockets and incendiary devices, torpedo, and artificial pleasure gardens.[63]” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Age_of_Islam)

The first non-Ptolemaic models of Astronomy.
Much of the foundation for modern medicine.
Much of the world’s knowledge of geometry and calculus.
Without Islamic philosophers preservation of such texts, we wouldn’t even have a single record of the ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristotle and Plato.

I could go on and on. Rather than simply treating Islam like some kind of backward society without significant contributions, I would encourage you to open your gaze.

I will have to save my comments regarding Israel’s respect for human life and its abysmal human rights record until later.

Why does everone have to be on one “side” or the other? There is good and bad in Islam. We’re talking billions of people. They are not cyborgs.

The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of terrorism in the world today is taking place in the name of Islam. And it goes well beyond that. Look at what is happening in Darfur. Has one single Islamic nation come to the rescue of the Darfurian muslims being massacred? Is there any group of nations more backwards, more uncivilized, more devoid of human rights, than the muslim nations. Does anyone really think that a country like Iran, which has an army of children to be used for stepping on land mines in order to clear the field for soldiers, would hesitate to use an atomic bomb once they get one? What do people think will happen to muslims if they use an atomic bomb? I suggest that it could very well lead to their end.

Wow, that was a heck of a grocery list of inventions, brought to us by the same folks who brought us 9/11, and just think, all we Judea Christians were able to do is put it all together, build a civilization, send it to the moon and bring it back to earth. Will we every be able to overcome our backwardness, but we are working under a handicap here. We also have to learn how to land the 747 aircraft. These additional lessons may be the reason that we don’t have time to study videoed beheading, cutting off of hands, or stoning in the name of justice. Maybe the fact that we don’t have Sharia law to tell us the proper size stick to beat your wife with, is the reason that we haven’t had time to understand the virtues of Islam. I suppose that we are just too busy trying to preserve our freedoms, serve our country, PROTECT our families, and earn enough money to fill our gas tank.

    Bullishfrog says,
vast majority of terrorism in the world today is taking place in the name of Islam.
Lets round that number off into a percentage—–99% sounds good to me. Who cares what they may have done in the past. It comes down to what have you done lately—-besides blow up Americans that is.
There must be some good muslims someplace but one would never know it as they sure are not condeming the actions of the others.

heck, I just appreciate his citing his source. Wikipedia, an open source reference data base that can be added to, subtracted from, or altered by anybody with a computer and internet access.

Which is also NOT monitored for accuracy.

For example, I could log on, make an entry stating that the liberal posters on this site are noble, honest, trustworthy, intelligent, and care deeply for the disabled elderly in their midst.

But, that would be dishonest of me wouldn’t it?

However, those illustrious citizens could go to wikipedia, and make any corrections they deem necessary to make themselves seem better in the eyes of the reader.

But that would be dishonest of them, wouldn’t it?

And it would only further prove the point that wikipedia is NOT a reliable source of accurate information.

Let the holy war begin. I can only hope you religious zealots all kill each other.

We’re gonna target the infidels first, I’ve already forwarded your name to the folks that are into beheadings.

Not that I would want you to lose you head, but it’s just an empty vessel now anyway.
