Justin Morris and Travis Humphrey are guilty of blatantly breaking the law based on the Feb. 21 article in The Daily Sentinel. The two, along with a minor, were found shooting at ducks with a BB gun, near a bird sanctuary, within city limits.
Travis 18, and Morris, 20, my age, are legally adults and should exercise common sense. The two older individuals acted like two kids who just watched a war movie.
The immaturity of Humphrey and Morris is apparent when you consider what the two did. Shooting at ducks with a BB gun is brainless. Shooting at ducks near a bird sanctuary within city limits, without a license, out of season is not the action of an adult but of a fifth grader. The two are old enough to follow the rules and regulations set forth for hunting in the state of Colorado.
The Feb. 22 editorial titled “Brain lapse with BB guns” called for leniency for Morris and Humphrey, claiming the two are “just kids.” The editorial said that the litany of charges almost makes the author cringe. Morris and Humphrey are not kids. The article made me cringe because I am also 20 and haven’t shot a BB gun since I stopped watching Saturday morning cartoons. Morris and Humphrey should have known better.
I find the list of charges completely appropriate. The two face three misdemeanor charges along with a felony charge for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Humphrey also has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. In my opinion, Humphrey and Morris need to be held responsible for their actions and face the charges like men. The two need to act their age, not their shoe size.

Before these idiot’s are charged with anything, you’ve got to ask yourself one thing. Are these guys illegal aliens or Americans? Dumb sounding question I know but apparently in Grand Junction this question matters. If these dumbies were illegal aliens nothing would probably happen to them, but because they are US citizens more then likely they will be charged as they should be. Just a thought…

No, these are not just “kids”.
They are old enough to vote.
They are old enough to drive.
They are old enough to enlist.
Then they are old enough to pay for their crime.
Someone might want to ask their neighbors if they’ve had any missing pets…

“Justin” and “Brian” don’t sound like the names of “illegals”, now do they? So, really, the comment was just an excuse to rant.
So, tiag, you’d rather pay to keep them in jail, rather then “send them back where they belong”?
