We were surprised with the April 20 article in The Daily Sentinel and on GJSentinel.com, “Court rules in trappers’ favor,” as the killing process is not yet defined.
Normally, trappers use a club or stick to stun (not kill) the animal, being careful not to cause blood on the pelt, etc. Then they pin the animal down by stepping on the neck and then using the other foot to rupture the heart or stand on the lungs to stop any more breaths. Some just ring the animals’ necks. The trapper must be very careful not to damage the pelts.
None of these killing methods are regulated, yet it is part of trapping and should have been addressed by the judge. Because he did not, we would now expect the Colorado Wildlife Commission to properly address the issue. Is the trapper going to resort to his cruel method of killing these caged animals?

Mr Clements, I take it that you are not from around here? perhaps not even from the Great State of Colorado?
This may come as a surprise to you, but British Columbia is not even part of the United States.
Do you really desire us good old boys from down south to start meddling in the affairs of Canada?
Just asking…

George V. Clements,
First the cages referred to by Mr. Clements are live traps, as mandated by law. Second, the methods of kill, as graphically described by Mr. Clements are a figment of his imagination. Think about his description of clubbing or stomping an animal to death inside of a small cage. Now imagine yourself trying to kill a mouse inside a bread box with a rolling pin, or trying to stomp a bird in a cage. Having visited Canada, I know that the people there do anatomically impossible things all the time. Kind of makes you wonder what other lies are blowing our way on the north wind. Think about it.
