In 2006 at the state Capitol, I had several chances to observe in action now-state Senator Josh Penry and his fellow Republican state lawmakers. They were refreshing, impressive, intelligent and well organized.Penry’s anticipating, sharp mind and intuitiveness makes him a prime candidate to lead the Colorado state Senate Republican caucus.
I hope this May 2008 many will attend the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce breakfast at Mesa State College to hear Penry speak. If you do, you will see why Penry is an exceptional choice for Colorado Republican leadership circles.

Where’s the “paid for by ?????? ” disclaimer for political advertising?
Josh is cute, but we don’t need, nor want another career politician with no concept of the needs of his/her constituents.
johnnie salazar represents nancy pelosi, ken salazar represents harry reid, bernie buescher (no relation to the broad that kills single mothers by driving through red lights at a high rate of speed)represents his own interest within the state democratic party in hopes of gaining fame and fortune.
Why does the sentinel ALWAYS include the disclaimer on buescher anyway?
When another Johnson does a bad thing, I’m not concerned about the name recognition.
Posted May 12th, 2008 at 2:29 pm Login to Send PM Report this comment
The thing to remember about Josh is that from day one of his political career he’s had his eye on one of two positions - U.S. Senator from Colorado, or Colorado Governor. He will do and say whatever it takes to further that ambition. He cannot be trusted to serve the interests of his constituents if those interests conflict in any way with his goals. He’s in the clutches of the Front Range politicos because that’s where the power and votes are, not on the Western Slope

We started using the disclaimer as a courtesy. There are many Johnsons but not many Bueschers; the Sentinel confirmed some people assumed a connection that wasn’t there and were making angry calls to the wrong people.

So, I shouldn’t have made all those midnight phone calls, screaming into the phone and hanging up?
Bummer dude…
Sorry if I woke anybody up….
Besides, I always took it for granted that one adult was not responsible for the actions of another adult.
Now if there were two bernie bueschers, and one was a criminal, other than our favorite bernie, I could see the disclaimer.
But, we do live in happy valley where nothing is out of line, or illegal….

Who is EMZY VEAZY III of Aspen? Now that’s a name that you don’t forget.
Maybe she was just Joshing us about Penry, Republican Wonderboy.

Sorry, but I can’t take seriously a politician who is a college graduate but does not accept the principles of Evolution. Flat Earthers never did inspire much confidence in me regarding their mental abilities as evidenced by our current President.

Why does it bother you so much that not everybody descended from monkeys?
Your much touted ‘principals of evolution’ reads more like a book of worship than a science based book of proven, or provable, fact.
I’m all for this Freedom of Religion thing, just stop trying to cram your religion down our throats.
Fair enough?

I don’t know anyone who believes we descended from monkeys. Certainly no scientist believes that. My daughter even in the 8th grade knew better than that and used to laugh at those who expressed such ignorant statements, devoid of any knowledge of the process. I gather that you have never had a college course in modern biology WLJ. And by the way the word is “principles” which means something quite different than your term, “principals”.

Classof52-Josh Penry ISN’T a college graduate, he’s a graduate of Mesa State. He’s also a practicing Christian fundamentalist whose church believes that the earth is no more than 6,000 years and that humans and dinosaurs frolicked together.

Hey, I figured it out! The dinosaurs went extinct because willis’s ancestors battled them for supremacy of the earth. And we all know what a mean bunch they must have been…

Proteus,
Glad I could find you. Thanks for the info. I have just one more question for you. What is a “Jesus Nut” and how did it get it’s nickname?
Posted May 12th, 2008 at 5:28 pm Login to Send PM Report this comment
Josh Penry’s religious beliefs should not be an issue here.
What *should* be an issue is his limited intelligence, his lack of loyalty to the Western Slope he purports to represent, and his willingness to do anything to prove his allegiance to the people of the Eastern Slope, who have the money and influence to get him where he so badly wants to go. Of course, he’ll claim that if his loving home district really, really supports him in this next step up, why, *then*, he’ll start really working in our interest. He is, for want of a better word, Clintonesque.
That’s as believable as a 6,000 year old Earth.

One.voice-We’re getting off subject and may want to move to the “forums” section if it gets too heavy.
I would classify a “Jesus Nut” as a Christian fundamentalist who believes that every word in the bible is literally true and must be blindly obeyed under judgment from a mythical and vengeful deity they call “God.” These people also believe in the ridiculous “rapture” prophesy and read the “Left Behind” series as avidly as rational, reasonable, intelligent, thinking people read “Harry Potter.”
Being Christian fundamentalists, “Jesus Nuts” believe in a worldview that is the single most dangerous threat to our national security because they put their deity above the laws of man.

Proteus,
Nice try. A Jesus Nut is the torque nut that holds the main rotor on a Bell UH1 helicopter. All-be-it a gun ship or a slick. “IT” got it’s nickname because Jesus is the first word out of anybody’s mouth if that nut fails in flight. I would have thought an old door gunner like yourself would know that, which just goes to prove that you can’t find everything online. I don’t think I have any more questions for you, no question about it.

There was nothing of value in this post, normal for most simians.
It’s a “monkey see, monkey do” scenario.
And this poster wags his tail everytime you post something.
Also, I did notice that you did not deny that evolution has become a religion in its own right.
No scientific proof, just faith based hope.

Yeah just like the theory of gravity and the earth revolving around the sun rather than the reverse are “religions”
WLJ write: “No scientific proof, just faith based hope.”
The only people why write such things about the principles of evolution are those who have never had a single university level course examining the evidence for this fact of life. Their information comes from religious tracts written by equally ignorant zealots.

Sullivan,
Yeah, maybe that’s why Jesus is the first word out of anyone’s mouth when the failure occurs.
I have no idea who said it first, or how the stories of its origin evolved. I do know that most people who have spent time in a helicopter have heard it. I suspect it was introduced to these people the same way it was to me..
by a grinning crew chief on my very first helicopter ride. The reason I posed the question to Proteus had to do with his prior statements, and my inability to connect the dots. It appears the more he talks, the less things seem to fit, and he talks a lot.

Writers of religious tracts are ignorant zealots?
And I thought your much vaunted ’superior intellect’ was to be used to present facts so that even the unwashed masses could understand.
But no, you just present ignorant drivel based on your own failure as an intelligent human being.
More proof that you descended from monkeys.
Oh yeah, you never heard of the Scopes Monkey Trials either.

What a stunning argument. because they called it The Scopes “Monkey” Trial, it proves humans descended from monkeys. You just can’t argue with logic like that.
Keep going Willis. You are doing more to demonstrate the intellectual vacuity of creationists than any counter-arguments ever could.

You have to remember that a door gunner is much further down the chain of evolution than a crew chief. Proteus does not want elected officials who believe in God. He must not be much of a student of history as well. Maybe his offspring will evolve to the point of hind site.

Uhm…How does pointing out Endogenous Retroviruses serve as “Even more proof” of the anti-evolution argument, or even, as some kind of argument against the poster?
Posted May 13th, 2008 at 7:39 am Login to Send PM Report this comment
Sullivan,
I suspect that hind sight is what Proteus sees when he looks in the mirror.
He doesn’t want politician who believe in God because he knows they do not represent his point of view. The thought is not of the whole, but of the part.

Good Morning Curmie,
His bringing up his retrovirus thingie, then assuming I have no more questions assumes a couple of things.
1. that them thar retrovirus thangs is pertinunt to the conversation.
That I would even care what he thinks about what I think.
And finally number THREE!
Isn’t his topic on Josh Penry?
Any time you evolutionist care to go to the forums section and start a forum on the subject feel free to do so.
That is what Todd and Crew set the forums section up for.
But no, it’s too much trouble and requires conscious, coherent thought to actually do something creative like follow the proper procedure, and follow the rules and requests of the sit operators.
I have noticed that very seldom is it the non-liberals that keep dragging up irrelevant subjects to deflect the weaknesses of their positions.
I hope everybody has a swimmingly wonderful day.

Humans did not ‘descend’ from monkeys.
Humans descended from HUMANS.
Evolutionists descended from monkeys.

Willis, go check the forums. We’ve already started discussing evolution in the “Why Willis is Wrong” thread.
And if you don’t think ERVs are relevant, then you really don’t know what you are talking about. It’s that simple.

Yes Scott, NOW there is a thread on that subject.
I did notice that you had to wait for Curmudgeon to set it up though.
It’s like math for little girls, “It can be so hard at times, but you can learn it.”
Personally, I never did like that commercial, but sometimes ya just gotta use what’s available to get a point across.
Now, BACK to Mr. Penry and why he’s not anybodys choice apparently.

My pleasure.
And I still think Josh Penry is an idiot, and an errand boy for the Eastern Slope’s interests. I guess you have to live in Aspen to see how peachy-keen he is. (I don’t consider Aspen to be part of the Western Slope. I’m pretty confident they don’t, either.)

Curmudgeon says “And I still think Josh Penry is an idiot..” And, although I have little respect for the gentleman, it is because it is so obvious that his primary objective is his own advancement and career path.
Intellectually as well as emotionally he is a lightweight and, judging from a personal encounter, I noted that when he is challenged outright he runs and hides or ‘goes to his corner’, later emerging only to complain as to how others were ‘mean’ to him, that people don’t listen to him, or that he is somehow being persecuted; i.e. dons the vestments of victimhood.
All of his campaigns consist of are ‘pandering’ to what is basest in man, selfishness, greed, as well as prejudice and fear. Naturally, that would not work if there were not so many who are in possession of those characteristics and allow themselves to be controlled by them.
