This unfortunate letter is directed to the person or persons that felt the potted plants at the cemetery in Fruita had their name on them.

A few weeks ago, my family and I laid to rest my dear husband; a father, grandfather, brother, son and friend. This is our first Memorial Day. I opted for potted plants, so afterwards I could plant them in my yard and enjoy them for many years to come.

Friday, May 30, I went during my lunch hour and watered them. I was impressed at how peaceful and quiet it was, and how many people were spending time with their memories.

I was not able to visit on Saturday, but returned Sunday, June 1, before church. To my horror, the plants were gone! What kind of person would steal a tribute from the cemetery? I feel this is desecration of a grave.

I hope that whoever you are, you nurture those plants and all FIVE of them grow beautifully and each time you look at them you are reminded of the family of a loved one you stole from.

TERI LEE THOMPSON
