In regard to Rick Wagner’s column discussing his reasons for not increasing the Mesa County Commission from three to five, he has not presented a compelling case and makes one wonder why he objects to better representation at the county level.
Electing two additional representatives to the Mesa County Commission is a good idea. State law allows counties with populations over 70,000 to elect a board of five county commissioners — a threshold we surpassed back in the 1970s.
It’s about time we move into the 21st century with better representation at the county level. Several community organizations have come out in support of adding two county commissioners, including groups that frequently find themselves on the other side of the proverbial table, such as the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce and Western Colorado Congress.
In addition, one cannot ignore the unanimous support from five municipalities that call Mesa County home; all thirty-five elected leaders from the city of Grand Junction, Palisade, Colbran, Fruita and DeBeque have endorsed adding two seats to the Board of Mesa County Commissioners.

But then Rick Wagner has never been known as a fountainhead of good ideas for local govenment. His forte is mean spirited attacks on anyone and any idea not from the fringe right wing apparatus.

Yeah, class, and Western Colorado Congress is a-political, right? The difference between Rick Wagner and WCC is that Rick doesn’t lie and try to hide his politic behind a bunch of hoop-la. He is right up front about it.

Grandma, tell us about the WCC lies. Wagner is a pompous — and is most interested in setting the stage for a run for—–something. He is preaching to what he belives is the “choir”, those most likely to vote for him. Once again, which WCC lies?

Grandma - You said, “The difference between Rick Wagner and WCC is that Rick doesn’t lie and try to hide his politic behind a bunch of hoop-la.”
Please cite specific examples to prove your accusations against WCC.

“pompous”?
An interesting choice of words johnb.
Did you copy that from your illustrious lying leader?
Or did you misspell ‘honest’ again?
Mr. Wagner, to me, is an unknown, but if you and your buddies don’t like him, that means you view him as a threat.
But, a threat to what?
What does Mr. Wagner have that bothers you fellers so much? Every time his name comes up, the wailing and gnashing of teeth begins, and quickly grows to a nearly unbearable pitch.
We’re all friends here, you can tell us. We’ll keep your secrets safe….
Honest… (well, as honest as you fellers are anyway)

There seems to be a claim on the table that the Western Colorado Congress is not a political organization.
Well, it really is a political organization, and it does have a political agenda, and when some things do not fit their agenda, they have been known to ‘alter’ the facts to fit what they want the ‘facts’ to say.
