While well meaning, the letter writer does not understand the issue, or chooses not to understand the issue.

The United States has more than ample known reserves to supply all our needs.

The problem lies in the hall of government where our illustrious 'leaders' have blocked our ability to produce, refine, and distribute our own oil.

What can be produced into gasoline is required by law to be mixed into an unbelievable number of blends of 'oxygenated' fuels, for a ridiculous number of communities for 'environmental' reasons, none of which has ever been proven to be effective at reducing emissions.
