As a significant development in his campaign, Mike Samson, candidate for Garfield County commissioner, has announced a detailed proposal for establishing what he designates as the Garfield County Forum. This is basically a “unification plan” aimed at providing the opportunity for municipalities and also communities throughout the county to participate and communicate on a regular basis on common key issues and challenges.
This could be a real “breakthrough!” What Samson proposes is obviously to create an independent voice with the ultimate aim of unifying our county.
I urge other citizens of Garfield County to join me, as well as the towns and community groups, in endorsing this plan.

Think your watershed is safe? Think again. Spills, blowouts etc do happen more often than we would like. As for them not asking for surface use - just wait and for my money I bet it happens. Fractured areas are not conducive to drilling but the oil companies are not willing to forfeit the profits of any drop of gas in any ground is how I see it. Check out this web site for what can happen and did happen in one small area of Western Colorado and watch the videos - quite interesting. web site: http://www.journeyoftheforsaken.com just one more reason why we need more stringent rules to protect us all.
