We were disappointed that there was no mention in The Daily Sentinel about the forum presented several weeks ago by the Families of Homicide Victims and Missing Persons, Inc. (FOHVAMP). It was important enough that it drew an audience of several state legislators, several members of the state Public Defender’s Office, members of local law enforcement,
and family members who have lost loved ones though murder or disappearance.

The forum was titled “Trade Vengeance for Justice” and proposed that the millions of dollars used to defend the accused who are faced with the death penalty would be more prudently used by eliminating the death penalty and funneling those funds to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to support a Cold Case Team. This Cold Case Team would assist local law enforcement with the backlog of 1,300 unsolved murders and disappearances in our state which are over three years old.  As the Director of FOHAMP states, “There are murderers living among us.”

It’s no surprise, being the Grand Junction police and law enforcement have such a lack of concern for murder victims amd missing murdered persons. I attended the FOHVAMP annual meeting in Denver on Saturday Oct 4th hoping to talk to Sheriff Stan Hilky about my sister Roberta “Bobbie” Neville’s murder, but not surprising, he didn’t show up!
