Gov. Bill Ritter seems determined to stick it to Mesa County. And he has an ally in Bernie Buescher. It’s hard to believe that Mr. Buescher is from Mesa County. He has consistently voted with Bill Ritter on Ritter’s tax and spend bills; the $3 billion increase on our homes and businesses; and he’ll be supporting Ritter’s 300 million energy tax increase Democrats’ plan to totally and permanently repeal TABOR.
Because he is a Democrat, I guess he’s supposed to vote with his party — but not at the expense of us. He is supposed to represent Mesa County – not Denver County — regardless of who is in the governor’s mansion.
I don’t care that he’s been endorsed by groups in Denver. The people right here at home — our own Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce, the people who really know and understand Mesa County — have endorsed Laura Bradford.
Laura is not a person who will say one thing on this side of the state and vote with the people in Denver. You can depend on Laura to do what she says. Vote for Laura Bradford for House District 55!

The Chambers’ endorsement of Laura Bradford was an act of political desperation. It was also very misguided and inappropriate.
Bernie Buescher is one of Colorados’ finest legislators and the GOP is having a hard time selling Mrs. Bradfords’ candidacy. This move by the Chamber will have little effect beyond discrediting that organization. It would not surprise me to see a couple more institutional endorsements coming from any group where the GOP holds sway.
It is difficult to jump start an “engine” that has no gas.
