First, let me thank the Blue Angels for coming to Grand Junction. My family really enjoyed the show. I am writing this letter to address a few concerns that I have about the show.
1. Prices of food and drink are out of line if you don’t allow people to bring in food. A minor issue but I wonder how some families can afford to spend: $7 for a not so great 7″ pizza and $3 for a bottle of water.
I did notice that a lot of the food sales were for nonprofit organizations. Please consider point 2 and reduce luxuries for VIPS and use that money to help these organizations.
2. Vendors taking the best viewing places. I am sorry but I found the VIP situation offensive. It makes me sad that out of the speakers comes we won the cold war and we are Americans yet most Americans were squeezed to the backs and ends of the viewing area with a few Americans taking the best viewing areas in front. Not only were our seats on the ends with trucks blocking our view but many of the VIP seats were empty.
We all pay taxes and paid a fee to get in, we should all have equal viewing of a function so largely funded by all taxpayers. VIP seats occupied all the area in front and beyond of the Blue Angels parking area. My guess 70 percent of the viewing area was dedicated to VIP tents that blocked the view from behind so the only option to get good viewing was the far left and right.
If I did not know better I would have sworn I was not a party member but then I snapped out of it an remembered this is the USA.
