While Bernie Buescher supporters have mentioned many of the areas of legislation that Bernie has been actively involved with, one area that has gone unmentioned is Bernie’s concern for abused and neglected children.

Bernie co-sponsored House Bill 1391. That bill provides for comprehensive mental health services for children ages 4 to 10 (and their siblings) who have been abused or neglected.

There will be three pilot programs in Colorado, and many of us are hopeful that Mesa County will be one of the chosen counties. The Department of Human Services, Colorado West Mental Health and the Partnership for Children and Families have worked together to submit a proposal for Mesa County.

Bernie has been supportive of many issues affecting children and this bill in particular will assist some of the most vulnerable children in Colorado.

There are many reasons to vote for Bernie and his concern for abused and neglected children is one more important one. All children are our future.
