Although we haven’t seen much about it this election year, it’s important we consider our children, and our State Board of Education race. In our Third Congressional District, here on the Western Slope, we have the good fortune to have a candidate for State Board who has the experience to truly get the job done for our kids.
I’m glad we have the opportunity this year to support Marcia Neal for Board of Education. Marcia Neal is the only candidate who has been a public school teacher. When I saw her speak, I was surprised at her honest and wise approach; she is one of those teachers you remember having an impact, who really cared about your learning. She’s been a small business owner as well, and understands as a taxpayer why our children need the best preparation for a tough economy. And she knows great results come from great teachers and great programs, not from more taxing and spending of money that rarely trickles down to the classroom.
Marcia Neal has the experience and passion to support teaching that works. She researches programs already performing, in which students are turned-on to learning and teachers work with passion, as templates for success. Marcia Neal believes families should have greater choice within the system as a strong, principled supporter of charter schools, apprenticeships, and online learning. We can no longer afford to throw money at our schools for dubious results.
A vote for Marcia Neal is a vote for principled experience, options and choice, and fiscal responsibility on the part of our public schools. Choose Marcia Neal for the State Board of Education.

Ms. Neal was a member of and for a term, President of, District51’s school board. During that time student performance scores remained flat for the entire 8 years. Voting for Ms. Neal on the State Board of Education is vote for continuation of a system that puts its adults first and ignores the needs of its student. Election of Ms. Neal to the State Board of Educations will meely reinforce the status quo in education.
