Hey letter writer Jacob Padon, you really don’t have to berate us poor hay ]seeds and be forced to live with us. I can hear California beckoning you now. Yes, San Francisco is calling. Your utopia is waiting. Just learn the words to “California Here I Come” and head your motor scooter west. Give my best to the Golden State.

Maybe instead of worrying about someone who is trying to point out that we need to fund education. You should worry about the thousands of Californians and Texans who are moving into the valley who refuse to fund such things as schools and recreation centers. But then again you probably voted those down also.

I guess we will never get past the “love it or leave it” attitude — and so our chances of moving on and addressing real problems remains caught in sound bites.

Listening to those who disagree with you can help one define and focus their own points of discussion.

oneperson states: “I guess we will never get past the “love it or leave it” attitude ..”

That is quite correct and, in the individual, it reflects little but a “closed mind.” In the political sphere, such individuals, while they may proclaim frequently and loudly, that they are in favor of liberty and freedom, cannot even tolerate the discomfort of differences between people, never mind undertake to respect and defend them.
