dc,

I derived the name from the Federalist Papers when I read them. In regard to the attack vs. challenge, this is something I feel is subjective based on perception. I guess it is a hard one to answer but I will do my best to explain. Newt regardless of what he said had a right to say it and anyone can disagree with him or others here without attacking. If Newt gets negative maybe the first step would be to constructively get him to see another point of view. Then if he fires back with further attacks I think it's time to say sorry you feel that way, good luck.

Having said that I perceived some of your statements as an attack on others, including me but no necessarily Newt, but a few trying to defend him a little. So in defense of others sometimes I feel the need to dish it back. One that seemed to get my hackles up in a hurry was this one “Most people will settle down after awhile but the “indignant wing nut” contingent will never relent.” Some of those may relent if you give them a chance. When you fire a shot like that across the bow expect to be fired upon in return. Like I said I am not affiliated to either party. If someone flat out attacks you for no reason I would defend you. You stated you were not "judging, catagorizing or psychoanalyzing" anyone on here. But you did that right away with me with a few assumptions that were totally false such as "I am sensing a serious case of elitism from our new friend." I tried to explain to you that I was neither arrogant nor elite by any means. But you would not let it go so unfortunately I decided to join in on the assumptions and attacks just to prove it can go both ways and it is so easy to do. Every person has a right to an opinion without personal attacks, which is one of our basic rights. When we attack each other nothing gets solved. I hope this answers your question.

Bruce86 I am sorry my eyes are not what they used to be when I glanced at the screen I thought it said 98 but when I checked my math it was 96%. I missed question number 13, lucky 13. Guess it is time to get that prescription my reading glasses changed.

Scott congratulation I scored a 98% and I have no party affiliation.

Very interesting, but I suspect grade inflation. Given that there are 33 questions on the "quiz," it would be very difficult for anyone to obtain a score between 97 and 100%.

[Anagram alert: publiusco = pubic soul! Significant? I report, you decide.]

publiusco,

I am genuinely interested in what you mean by this. "start attacking people for what the(y) believe in like some have done here on both sides." What constitutes an attack? How is it different from a challenge? What words or phrases signal that animosity to you? Does it have anything to do with your stated evaluation of how "liberals" think?

I am not being agressive, I am honestly curious.

That is the way I see it though, bullish. Think of all the Democrats who turned belly up for Bush on Iraq, wiretapping, torture, the Medicare drug plan over the years. I would say the Democrats (not all but the party as a whole) have acted like sheep more than partisans over the past several years.

Not funny Ash, but to suggest that Democrats are any less partisan than Republicans is nonsense.

bullish, Congressional Republicans did tend to vote straight down party lines during the G.W. Bush years more than during any other presidential administration. According to some analysts this was a result of some behind the scenes bullying and the administration's overall theme of "either you are with us or against us."

Believe me, I am not trying to be funny; in fact I do not find any of this funny at all.

publiusco, thanks for admitting you were "in error" about Congressional party divisions.

From my observation the lie that "The Democrats were in charge of Congress" during the G.W. Bush years is generally something the far right likes to repeat in hopes that enough people will just believe it instead of bothering to remember or look it up.

So. let me get this right, Ash, the reason the Congress has been deadlocked is because of "extreme partisanship on the Republican side of the aisle? Meaning, that Democrats wanted to play nice but those Republican bullies would not play along?

Ash, you have a future as a comedian.
