I have a wonderful idea on how to stop illegal immigration, or at least slow it down.
Every time ICE captures a vehicle that is transporting illegal immigrants, the driver of that vehicle gets 10 years in prison, plus one day, without parole for each illegal immigrant in the vehicle. Also, each illegal immigrant has to work 90 days at such jobs as picking crops, cleaning sewers, sweeping streets, picking trash up on highways, etc.
And for these 90 days the illegals get no pay, no hospitalization, no free education for their kids and are then held in prison camps until the end of the 90 days and are then deported back to their home countries.
If these illegal immigrants are once again apprehended then they are given 10 years, plus one day prison sentences with no parole.
However, it will take politicians that are not spineless to enact this law.

Tim, little of consequence will be done to stop illegal immigration until we have a catastrophic event in this country that is linked to someone who has come across the border illegally.
The Hispanic community, a rapidly growing voting block, shows no interest in stopping illegal immigration. Therefore, nothing of substance gets done.

Why not just take the thousands of troops stationed world wide and bring them home to a post on the borders?

We already have more people in prison per capita than any other civilized nation on earth. Prisoners do not pay the cost for their incarceration, taxpayers do. Many illegals are going back to Mexico and other countries because of the economic mess in this country. Illegal border crossings are down significantly. Who will wash dishes in fancy restaurants and clean your toilets and luxury hotel rooms, who will clean the trophy homes of the wealthy if we send them all back across the border?

9-11 was as catastrophic as it gets and the last I heard Saudis still visit and live here. Futhermore, we still send billions of dollars to them for their crude oil.

It is not an issue of Saudies, or Mexicans, or any other foreigners living here. It is a matter of an uncontrolled border where terrorists or weapons could come across undetected.
Kemosabe, you do not believe a nation is entitled to secure borders where it decides who can and cannot come across its borders?
I, for one, am in favor of legal immigration.
