In response to the letter from Ms. Helms of Montrose: If pointing out someone’s affiliation with anti-American, venom-spewing, Marxist dogma is considered right-wing ranting, then bring it on.
The earplugs and blindfolds have been off long ago. For eight years we had to listen to constant slurs of our duly-elected president. Everything from him being a loser, a Nazi, a moron; and all the vitriolic books, movies, TV and radio shows that ridiculed, spat insults, and generally displayed a form of insanity concerning an honorable, educated man who, although he wasn’t eloquent of speech, kept our nation safe from countless terrorist plots.
I’ll make a deal with Ms. Helms. We’ll give Obama the same chance to show how much he “cares” about performing the duties of his office, rather than playing Robin Hood with the money that we have earned by actually working for it. There’s something about how people fall for slick campaign promises time after time after time.

And the All-Time Kool-Aid drinking contest winner is—- Jean Bridgman. All the bad things that have happened to the country, and the world, over the last eight years are somebody else’s fault? Most probably Democrats, right? Recent Bush interviews prove it! Get a grip, Ms.Bridgman. It wasn’t people from both sides of the aisle speaking the truth that has caused Bush to overwhelmingly be considered the worst President in the last 100 years, and probably ever. The man was recognized as incompetent by thinking people before he ever got the job and he has proved them to be right, but probaly not completely aware of just how badly they underestimated his total lack of fitness for the job. There had to be something to the Bush family judgement that he was the family embarrassment, if not the Black Sheep. He has proved their judgement was correct, in spades.

Maybe one should ask the British and the IRA, or the Serbs and the Croats, or the Palestinians and the Jews or the Muslims and the Hindus what sort of good comes from the “Well, they did it to us in the past”.

Wise people use history to learn and not repeat the mistakes of the past. Those who do not learn are doomed to repeat them.

Let’s hope more poeple are on the side of learning rather than repeating because the problems we face are substantial and will require a more logical approach than the writer’s or the above respondent’s.

John - I don’t know about you, but I’m proud to be a member of the “Marxist” crowd Ms. Bridgeman is bemoaning.

It’s going to be a tough 4-8 years for Ms. Bridgeman and her fellow conservatives; what with the Marxists in control of the government, the military, the courts and the USA Patriot Act.

This letter writer is still of the opinion that if you didn’t support the Bush administration that you are “anti-American”, at least. The narrow minded focus is still just regurgitation of the right-wing, narrow minded talking points, and should have lost all of it’s effectiveness by now, even for someone like Ms. Bridgeman. Follow the Limbaugh’s, O’Reilly’s, etc., and continue to live in your hate-filled world Ms. Bridgemen. W. Bush failed at offering leadership in these troubled times, and it’s OBVIOUS to all of the thinking world. We are now offered hope that America can regain some of it’s world wide respect that “duly-elected” Bush threw away in less than eight years..your perception of the “insanity” is seriously skewed. Most Americans are apparently now ready to move on and work together, but this letter writer seems to wish to continue with whining and complaining because she didn’t get her way…..keep in mind, you can find fault with anything, if you keep on trying hard enough…good luck, Ms. Bridgeman, it looks like it’s going to be a long EIGHT years for you and your kind!

I am constantly amazed by the utter lack of understanding people have for the workings of our government. While I’m not apologizing for the leadership displayed by our current President, Im certainly smart enough to understand one man is not in charge of every aspect of our country. If I recall correctly, Congress writes the laws, the President signs them. BOTH parties are to blame for the mess this country is in. Denying that is delusional.

stiego: “If I recall correctly, Congress writes the laws, the President signs them. BOTH parties are to blame for the mess this country is in. Denying that is delusional.”

Perhaps you will also recall that except for the last few months the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress during the past 8 years and thus exercised almost complete control of policy and legislation. Denying that is delusional.

stiego, like it or not the President is where the buck stops. He chose the people in his administration and, conceivably, he signed off on all the major things that have gone haywire or were biased against the vast majority of the population. Yes, both parties are at fault in the sense that they were in Congress but majorities, filibusters, vetos and blind party fealty is where bad things happen. In the end, though, the man is a moron which is recognized by the majority of the population. No matter how you try to cut it and suggest that commentors are ignorant of the way government works the last eight years are among the most disastrous in our history and they are undeniably Republican years.

The Republican Party is in a serious fix. Moderate Republicans bought into the Bush administration and now many of them feel sucker punched. Bushco, Inc. is not “conservative” and has managed to embarrass all but the most diehard, fundamentalist party hacks. Now is the time that all citizens re-examine their allegiances and focus on measurable results, and not party ideology. President-elect Obama has promised to govern from the center. Democrats and Republicans alike should follow him there.

The author of this letter reveals the true motivation of most Bushco supporters by using the following phrase: “rather than playing Robin Hood with the money that we have earned by actually working for it.” With these people, it usually boils down to money, one way or the other. Bush deserves the derision he has received and a strong case can be made that he also deserves substantial jail time. There have been other corrupt administrations in American history, but none have exceeded the cronyism, the arrogance, and downright larceny of the movers and shakers at Bushco, Inc.

There’s a reason why G.W. Bush Jr. purchased 100,000 acres in Paraguay a couple of years ago. Right near Daddy Bush’s 173,000 acre spread and, coincidentally, near Rev. Moon’s big hideout.

Funny how Paraguay passed a law in 2005 granting immunity to U.S. military personnel including ex-Doofus-in-Chief Bush from the International Criminal Court if indicted for war crimes or crimes against humanity.

    How bizarre can it get?

Paraguay? Really? We’ve gone way past ‘mondo bizzarro!’

  11. bullishfrog

I understand the Bush family also purchased a large parcel on the dark side of the moon, just in case Paraguay changes its laws regarding the protection of war criminals.

    Bullish,

I’ve kinda been looking for some resort property, myself. Any idea what George paid for the lunar acreage?
