While I consider myself to be basically conservative in my viewpoint regarding politics and the governing of our country, I have made an effort to listen to and read the views of my fellow citizens who are of the liberal persuasion, so long as they express themselves in a reasonable, logical and civil manner.

Which brings me to the article entitled “For many, the real New Year begins on January 20” written by columnist Bill Grant and printed in The Daily Sentinel on Dec. 30. Unfortunately this article does not meet any of my criteria, thus I shall ignore any further articles written by Mr. Grant. This person appears to be so filled with hate, intolerance and exaggeration that he may be incapable of expressing himself in a reasonable, logical and civil manner. Too bad.

I think, for this writer, “reasonable, logical and civil” means “if I agree with it”. It’s as if the last eight years never happened and, not only was there stupendous incompetence involved, absolutely all the actions taken by our government and it’s leaders were totally, honest, transparent and within the law. This writer appears to be one of those who will point to the two years of a Democratic Congress, hobbled by the constant threat of an unstoppable filibuster, and assert that whatever has happened shares equal blame for both parties. In other words, the last eight years was a totally bipartisan period and if you find fault with any of it, you are equally to blame if you are a Democrat or independent. Never has there been such an early effort to re-write history. At least that I’m aware of.
