Brady Trucking is not an oilfield service company.
Brady Trucking is a transport company. Its drivers do not have hazard=materials handling endorsements on their CDLs because they transport sand, an inert substance. The sand is loaded at Cameo, Parachute or Rifle and hauled to well sites. It is then unloaded into portable storage tanks. That’s what transport companies do. They haul stuff. They don’t sell stuff or store it.
If you want to see the nature of a real oil field service company, visit Schlumberger, BJ Hughes, CUDD, Halliburton or any of a dozen others. Those are serious places. Lots of chemicals, corrosive liquids, dust-producing bulk cement and explosives stored on the premises. Brady doesn’t have any of those things. No silos. No warehouses. No tanks. No railcars.
Brady buys fuel at local truck stops — lots of it. No fuel storage on the premises.
Brady’s drivers are paid by the load. Nothing good happens when the trucks are in the yard so they seldom are. The money is made on the road. And their drivers make very good money. Most of which is spent in this community. Go figure.
These folks are here, quietly doing business, providing a good number of jobs, buying lots of tires and fuel. Brady is not asking for tax incentives, free sewer or water hook-ups, or any of the other goodies so many recruited businesses often seek.
Education dispels so many doubts. Don’t take my word for any of this. Go talk to the people at Brady. See their landscaped grounds, their amazing terminal, and meet some of their people.

Mr Gorsuch, that is a great letter with several very good points. Other supporters of Brady would be smart to voice their opinions as well. All that has been heard so far are the NIMBY neighbors of OM. In all the rhetoric surrounding the issue, the point that keeps getting lost is that Brady is granting a 50′ easement! 50′ is wider than some of Grand Junction’s roads!!

Well put. The opponents just want to stir up fear of the unknown.
