It would be OK with me if The Daily Sentinel never, ever, ever published another letter to the editor from a Christian or an atheist.

My own preferred solution to this culture war is to use some bailout money to construct a Roman-style coliseum, then periodically round up all the letter writing Christians and atheists so we can toss them in there and let them battle it out. The only rule?  Don’t come out ’til your dead.

The rest of us could then read the paper and sip our coffee in the relative peace of a steadily decaying economy. But, to paraphrase Martin Luther King Jr., we’d be free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, free at last of their nonsense.

Funny, I never realized that Martin Luther King Jr. was in favor of censorship. I guess you learn something new everyday. :)

The writer doesn’t seem to be an atheist or a Christian. So, what is he? I just hope he doesn’t have a lot of followers.

How about sick and tired of the BS. I know I am. Let’s get the law suit going and resolve the commissioner situation. My only request is we get elephants, clowns and tigers to complete the circus it has become. And no, I’m not a follower of the writers. Where I come from, it’s put up or shut up. It is time.

Have patience. The wheels of justice turn slowly, but they do turn.

I try-but I have been following you and AP (and others) for months now and it is very old. I did hear a rumor lately, maybe you can verify-and no, I’m not kidding. Janet Rowland wants to piss test for drugs anyone who attempts to purchase a kiddy pool to ensure dopers aren’t putting their children in danger. If it were anyone but Janet, I would dismiss this outright, but with her, only Jesus knows for sure. have you heard anything?

A lawsuit like this isn’t something you just walk into on a whim. It takes a lot of preparation and coordination to make sure all your ducks are lined up. More than one case on this subject has been thrown out on technicalities.

I haven’t heard anything about drug tests for kiddie pools. Would that be just a general (albeit wackily overzealous) safety precaution or are kiddie pools used in making meth?

Speaking of AP, I heard that we may not hear from him again on this site.

    just a rumor

    Apparently, he got Willised.

Hey, I think we have a new verb.

good question-don’t know. But if she’s going there, she will have to test everyone that buys a gas grill. My neighbors used one to cook meth outdoors-eliminates the odor issue. I understand the prep issue and that. It’s just so absurd to me. Do you know how I could get on the docket with the commishes? If I could get a chance to bring something up, I would start my talk with a prayer to Allah for guidance that I would do his will. It would be great to see Janet’s reaction to that.

My wife used to work at a hardware store, and it was amazing the things that they had to lock up or restrict because of what they were used for.

As far as the county docket, they don’t open up the invocations to anyone else, but as long as they have a public comment period, have at it. You have three minutes to say whatever you want.

I don’t know. I hear Janet is a pretty good shot with that gavel.

I agree. I think the Sentinel needs to get away from fomenting a “culture war” to sell papers and concentrate on the real topic here. This is not about Christians and atheists. It’s about Janet Rowland’s flagrant violation of the U.S. Constitution. THAT is what the news media around here should be focusing on.

Agreed, I could care less about the Christian/Atheist fight when our economy is heading down the toilet and instead of addressing the fundamental cause of the problem, that being the Federal Reserve System, we are going to nationalize the banks and spend a few trillion more dollars.

  16. davinci

Since the author of this letter would like to see letter writers about Christians and Atheists in the Roman style coliseum, until they are dead, I suppose he understands he just put himself on that list.

“Agreed, I could care less about the Christian/Atheist fight”…Oh, how much less could you care?

I have started a crusade to inform people that leaving out the negative in the expression, “couldn’t care less” does not enhance its’ meaning.

Mr. Pipe: “But, to paraphrase Martin Luther King Jr., we’d be free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, free at last of their nonsense.”

While the gentleman may be inconvenienced with having to read what he terms “nonsense”, that may be because he does not recognize the importance or the significance of the subject matter, and its possible consequences (which if he were more acquainted with history), he would not be so willing to dismiss. Others have made that error in the past and, at the end, it was not coffee they ended up drinking, but blood.

    thanks dc.
