Western Colorado Congress hosted the “Patagonia Presents: The Wild and Scenic Environmental Film Festival” on March 28, and it was a huge success. It couldn’t have happened to such a degree without some great people and we’d like to say “thanks”.
First, we’d like to thank the entire community for its desire to support environmentally conscious films. Seeing the Avalon Theatre near capacity is always a wonderful thing, but it was especially moving to see a near-sellout crowd at a film fest that focused on conservation and citizen action.
Thanks, also, to the city of Grand Junction for keeping the Avalon Theatre alive. The wonderful venue allowed the community to gather and interact in a way that no multi-screen, megaplex could.
Our amazing team of volunteers made the whole night possible, and there is no way that we could truly express our gratitude. Lead by Lee Gellatt and Pam Jorgensen, our dedicated team spent months planning the event, securing business sponsorships, hanging posters, and spreading the word!
Lastly, we’d like to acknowledge our local sponsors for their generous contributions. The members of the audience had no idea that there would be so many great door-prizes! So, thanks to all of the local businesses that helped sponsor this event.
