I read with amusement C.M. Conrod’s recent letter about the tax day tea party in Grand Junction.

Conrod exhibited ignorance of the entire event. The people who attended the tea party are not advocating no taxes. They are protesting the massive increase in spending that has occurred under the Bush and Obama administrations. This was a nonpartisan event. Perhaps if   Conrod had actually done some research instead of receiving all of her information from NBC, CNN, ABC, et al, she might have had some idea what these events were about.

Conrod’s standard condemnation of the Republican Party was amusing as well. Apparently, the Democrats, who had at least partial control of the Congress for the past four years and complete control for two years, have no responsibility for the crash of the housing market and the bailout of AIG and other big businesses. Even though the pressure to make these risky loans to people who were not qualified came primarily from the Democrat Party (all in the name of “Fairness”),   Conrod can find no blame for this side of the spectrum. Even though the largest recipient of money from AIG was Sen. Chris Dodd from Connecticut, the chairman of the Banking Oversight Committee, and even though Rep. Barney Frank’s boyfriend spent years on the Board of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, the Democrat Party is devoid of responsibility for anything that has occurred.

I must take issue with   Conrod’s last lines. “True patriots support their government. They don’t whine and try to undermine it.” I wonder where this hearty spirit of support for the “duly elected government” was from   Conrod and her ilk for the eight years President Bush was in office. Apparently, support to Conrod is a one way street. She will only support the duly elected government if it was the one for which she voted.

“Your guy lost. Get over it.” Imagine if a Republican had uttered those words after the 2000 or 2004 elections.

    You are kidding…right?

I don’t have to imagine hearing those words coming from Republican.

Nice job Kevin. It is amazing how the Dems blame the Repubs when they controlled the Congress and brought all this about.
