First, there is only one person who can save the world, and that is Jesus.

Next, although they did not “save” the world, the women Henrietta Hay mentioned certainly changed the world. Some of these women did amazing things and others, like Gloria Steinem and Betty Friedan, did more damage than good.

I suggest that the authentic women activists are the ones Henrietta called the “mothers” who “are busy trying to hold home and children and job together.” With all due respect to Ms. Hay, without mothers there would be no home or children. The word “society” means people living together in an ordered community. There cannot be an ordered community without an ordered home. An ordered home begins with a husband and wife working together to raise children.

The female heroes of today are not the political powerhouses but the women who choose to honor, respect and obey (yes, I said obey) their husbands and raise their children in faith, love and holiness with propriety.

It is not policies, rules, regulations, laws or even government that changes the world. It is what the next generation will do with all of these things. Will they respect authority?  Will they listen to others compassionately?  Will they choose to be served or to serve others? Will they fight for what they want or will they fight for what they know is right? Will they choose life? Will they choose to love themselves or to love God and others before themselves?

Every woman who is a mother should know that her job is the most important job in the world. A wife and mother may go unnoticed in the world’s eyes and she may be less important in the world’s economy but she has generational impact and eternal value.
