As for the gripping story about the tragic death of Samantha Loy, featured on The Daily Sentinel’s front page on June 21, I can sympathize with the family in their grief, having lost a child myself. My heart goes out to these people who have lost a lovely daughter.
My concern is with the placing of accountability on the policeman who stopped her earlier. It seems that people, for the most part, will do anything to avoid the thought of being accountable for their own mistakes. The thought of placing the blame on the policeman will in no way bring this poor girl back. Why try to ruin his life?
Maybe he made a mistake, but nearly every decisions a policeman makes has room for errors. If, with good hindsight, had he taken her in and locked her up, there are a lot of other liabilities that could have occurred.

maybe the reason the policeman did not notice alcohol on her was that she may have been a binge drinker, which is common among younger drinkers and did not yet start drinking, . if her mother was drinking at her age instead of using that old lame excuse “I was drinking at her age how could I tell her not to” she should of sat down with her daughter and told her of the chaos that drinking causes at any age.

Indeed, the police officer should remember this the rest of his life. He was too busy looking at her sexy blouse to think. He made a life altering error in judgement and he should be blamed. If were for better judgement, that girl would still be alive. For her to possibly have gone to jail, she could have gotten help with her alcohol problem, if she had one, and she could speak at our schools and at seminars and possibly save another young life. What is the police officer going to say if he went to a seminar or to our schools: “Oooops, guys. It was just a hormone problem.”

“If were for better judgement, that girl would still be alive.” Such as don’t drink and drive.
