I recently returned from a trip to Germany where water is not served at eating establishments. However, if you insist, they bring you bottled water and charge you the same as a glass of wine or beer.
I find now that this does not only happen in a foreign country but right here in Grand Junction! Try getting water at fast food places like Taco Bell or Burger King. They now charge for a small cup of water and it goes up in price depending on the size. You can pay over $2 for bottled water.I was told it was a “corporate decision” to do this.
I recall a few years ago, when we were in a drought, you could not get water unless you asked for it, but it was still free. Now I know why I never cared for fast food places and won’t frequent many of them in the future. Better yet, take in your own water — if they will allow it.

I know owners of fast food places and you charge for water because so many kids (teens and adults) take the free cup, throw out the water and refill at the drink stations with soda. They allow you to take in your own water!

So avoid fast-food places and patronize locally-owned establishments instead that don’t have “corporate decisions,” or keep a bottle of tap water in your car and bring it in.
