In the Great Depression, while people were starving in the cities, America paid farmers to bury food. Crazy!
Government is very efficient in misallocating funds to harm the people. It is no different with pimping money to buy cars. Helping autoworkers, suppliers and new car owners only is inequitable. Law, to be just, must apply equally.
Why not money for new furniture and new computers? Coffee shops could use a little subsidy too. Milk farmers are getting hammered right now. Cherry growers can’t afford to pick their crop because the perfect weather gave them a super abundance (prices are too low). Where do we stop?
Equal, across-the-board tax reductions work to stimulate an economy without favoritism.
Micro-management of our economy by the nanny state is absurd. It creates inequity continually, while disguising the proposed necessity through fear tactics and politics of guilt and pity.
Trade-ins are doomed to recycle. They could have blessed people with years of service. This is just another waste of human energy. Bury the cars, just like food, to benefit a few. How sad.
This temporary euphoric drug-like high of consumer subsidies just takes away from future sales leading to another slump. Instead, let’s use tax incentives to encourage automakers to greater fuel efficiency sooner than mandated now. This certainly doesn’t favor one consumer or manufacturer over another. It looks to the future to make all autos better for everyone.
Hold Congress members accountable for their destructive waste. They also proposed eight new private jets for their affairs. They should ride commercial coach. They will exempt themselves from the new health care program. Is it not good enough for them? Do they really think they are royalty? We must hold them accountable. If we don’t we are dumb and are getting dumber!
