Today I am writing as a consumer regarding The Daily Sentinel article “Debate over fracking bill heats up.”
I have several wants in life, too, and one of them is having all parties behaving responsible.
First, hopefully reporters will begin using to a glossary of terms so they can accurately note differences between words, i.e. drilling fluids and fracturing fluids. Misinformation causes needless heartburn on behalf of readers and Western Slope residents.
Secondly, no one knows the lay of a land better than its owners. So, darn it start, thinking ahead. Take some responsibility for your stuff. Don’t wait to sue later when you could prevent damages by sharing your knowledge of where rain water runs in relationship to where your major water sources are located. Speak up before hand! Throw a bale of hay in the ditch on the
uphill side which leads to a cow tank, and on and on.
Next, elected officials at all levels must excuse themselves from this conversation. They seem to only add mayhem and frustrations to our economy.
Lastly, to companies and related businesses of oil and gas production: You need to continue being as careful as possible preventing accidents. You know how to excavate appropriately. We need your products! We want your products!
This is my mad part: I do not want my toothbrush to cost $47.53, or my zip-lock baggies or my 8 -ounce bottle of Ole English furniture polish. And neither do I want to do without them due to costly lawsuits and rules. Lawsuits-policy always result in higher prices, in more regulations and in higher taxes, with those costs in turn passed along to me and my consuming friends.
So, do we all know precisely the content of a Coca Cola?
