The Daily Sentinel wrote an unfair bashing of “Split Estate” in its Oct. 24 editorial.

This is a documentary film about the health problems of people living next to natural gas drilling operations. This film does not have to prove anything scientific nor does it need to be balanced. The film is about exposure and raising legitimate questions.

It is now common knowledge that the gas drilling companies use toxic chemicals in the process of drilling, including fracturing. The chemicals are out there in the ground from fracturing, pit leakage, chemical spills, and other related incidents. The people in this film are real with real health problems. What else could it be?

This film’s destiny and mission is to send a loud wake-up call to local, state, and federal agencies and our elected representatives who are in charge of protecting our health and welfare to unbury their heads from the heaps of gas industry influence money and do the jobs that they are paid to do.

What will The Daily Sentinel say when it is officially proved that fracturing and other gas drilling processes cause health problems and are contaminating our water sources? Unofficially, the proof is already there. I can provide The Sentinel with a long list of toxic chemicals sampled from drilling waste pits. These chemicals are highly suspect. The health symptoms are there. What more proof is needed? Autopsy reports?
