I would like to make a kind recommendation to the person who sent a “You Said It “, on Sunday, November 1, 2009. In reference to the helicopter pilots from St. Mary’s hospital, this person should really say, “Thank you and God bless you ” when they hear a helicopter flying over them.
I have personally met two of the helicopter pilots, but thank God, this wasn’t because they had picked me up from an accident. If this person could only understand that helicopter pilots are risking their lives to try to save the lives of other people in any time of day or night. But helicopter pilots have to be vectored the correct direction and altitude when flying.
I hope that you have heard the reason plane collisions have happened is because they were either out of their area or else didn’t know where other planes were. Again, I want to personally say ” Thank you and God bless you ” to St. Mary’s hospital staff and helicopter pilots.

However, they are not flying out of the goodness of their hearts, they are paid and if the money wasn’t there, neither would be the pilots.

How cynical. If you think for a minute that these folks primary motivation is financial, you need to get out more. You can make better money in jobs where you get to sleep in your own bed every night and a bad day at the office does not result in your funeral.

Skipp, I don’t know that drunky was being cynical.
It’s a simple fact that helicopter ambulance pilots need to be paid. Very few of them are capable of working for nothing.
Clearly, they aren’t getting rich, they’re not doing this just for the money, but if their funding goes away they will have to look for other employment. I didn’t see anything in drunky’s comment that implied otherwise.
Anyway, I had a family member whose life was saved by the service, so I say God bless the helicopter pilots and their commitment to the lives of their patients. They certainly do put their patients’ welfare before their own safety.

dgadbc, You are correct, but the drunkard’s post would have been fine without the last sentence. What was his point? Why did he include it?
