It seems that 2010 will be the Year of the Scotts for Republicans. With the withdrawal of Josh Penry, it seems that from within the cigar-and perfume-filled backrooms of the Republican establishment, it was decreed that Scott McInnis will run for governor while Scott Tipton again faces John Salazar. It remains to be seen if Ray Scott, running for the District 54 seat, will be invited to join the club.
Republicans went from having a great candidate capable of beating Ritter or Salazar to recycled party favorites. This reeks of internal party politics.
I guess the message of the tea parties and town halls was lost on Republicans. Planet Earth to Republicans: An “R” in front of your name means little to conservatives, independents and even for many unwashed Republicans.
It’s the candidate, stupid.

Ms Isham - I agree with you. We will be welcoming Gov. Ritter back again because the Republicrats can’t field a decent and legitimate candidate. They didn’t listen.

Oh, I don’t know. Although I am a big Josh Penry fan I also believe that McInnis would be a big improvement over Ritter, just not as big of an improvment as Josh. Scott does whatever gets him votes, Josh does what is right. I also believe that mcInnis will easily defeat Ritter just as many republicans will easily defeat theit democrat counterparts for congress next year.

I think the R, D, LP, G, C, SWP etc go behind the persons name. I see little difference between the R’s & D’s. Most often than not we are presented with a “choice” of “D”, “D lite”, and “DDD!”. Not one of the candidates are anything like the Texas Gubernatorial candidate Kinky Friedman, and that’s just sad.
Not one of the Candidates, McInnis or Ritter has expressed an interest in sticking up for the “little guy”. The little guy in China that we outsource our pollution and toxic waste to, and sometimes dump in the farmers field behind the solar panel factory. Solar Panels, Prius batteries, and CFL bulbs to name a couple, environmentalist “NIMBY’s” rely on racist pollution outsourcing to make their “green” energy products.
Nor has either candidate pledged to stop political robot calls, let alone have the robots who make those calls destroyed.
Whats wrong with Cigars?? Unfortunately the “R’s” are too politically correct nowadays to accomplish filling a room with smoke. The “D”’s can accomplish a smoke filled room, but its not exactly legal and they wont admit that what they were doing could be characterized as smoking.

TLC: I have heard of party unity. It is an acronym for John McCain Syndrome, isn’t it? The point of the letter was that we are experiencing the same ole process from Republican Party elite. I more than chuckled at your inference that I am a closet Democrat.

Dana, it seems to me that what the Republican party should want, as their top priority. is to get their candidate elected.
Are you a Republican? If so, what is your top priority when it comes to this particular race?

bullishfrog: I am an Independent Conservative. My priority in this race is the candidate that most shares my world view.
You may consider this politically naive, but the Republican Party’s priorities are not my mine. Frankly, I have little support for the argument that a any Republican is better than a Democrat, or really give a hoot for the Republican Party, especially when it exhibits the same process that lead to the nomination of John McCain.
This is not to say that a Governor McGuiness would not be leaps and bounds ahead of Ritter. That fact, however, isn’t sufficient rationalization to retread the same path that got us into the state we are in.

A conservative independent? What is that?
You don’t give as hoot for the Republican party? You found any conservative Democrats to vote for recently?

Bullish - I agree with her. I changed party affiliations back to Independent in the second term of the last Bush when it became obvious that fiscal conservation, illegal immigration/border security, oversight of the financial institutions (especially Fannie and Freddie) were no longer a priority. I was proven right in my estimation when we bailed everyone out because they were too big to fail. I will also always have my doubts that the Iraq war was less about WMD and more about finishing what his father started and failed to complete. Don’t tell me a candidate is a conservative just because they have desire to run as a Rebulican - let their actions speak for their beliefs and then I’ll choose to support them. By the way Olympia Snow is on the phone - she wants talk about the Republican party agenda.

warhorse, an independent, supposedly, is willing to vote for either a Democrat or a Republican. But an independent “conservative”? How does a “conservative” find a Democratic candidate to their liking in the current political environment?

“”By the way Olympia Snow is on the phone - she wants talk about the Republican party agenda.”"
There are people in this world that actually believe Olympia is on the phone with Rush Limbaugh getting her marching orders.

Ms Isham Said.”I am an Independent Conservative. My priority in this race is the candidate that most shares my world view”. What I saw in that statement was MY priority and MY world view. It was the Independenta that got bozo elected. I did not like mc Cain either but look what we got. NOW is the time to unifiy and take our country back. Just sayin……

TLC - Then the Republicans need to field electable candidates and not sheep in wolves clothing. It’s time to review what the party stands for and what it is going to do and stop being “wind socks”. Putting McInnis in reminds me of the current hollywood theory that everyone wants to see another sequel or some TV show themed movie. I saw that one before. As I recall it started with something like “term limits are part of our contract with America” but ended up as “seriously - its better to have a veteran Representative in the House because it takes so long to learn how things work here so I need to be re-elected”. Say what you mean and mean what you say.

bullish - last I checked there are independent candidates. Some are quite conservative. If provided a choice of a conservative independent candidate (Ron Paul) and say….John McCain I’ll take the independent. If I had to choose between Ben Nelson and Olympia Snowe I’d probably go for Nelson. I’ll grant you its a hypothetical because that race would never take place but the concept is the same.

Even pitchfork tote’n mi-nute men can be right once in a while. If we elect McInnis, it means Josh will be done with politics after his current term. Josh could not run for Governor for 8 long years. I believe we should all leave the Governor’s race blank when we send in our ballots. DO NOT vote McInnis. That way, Josh will be elected Governor in 4 years.

Warhorse, it is hard to imagine that there will be any race where a Demcoratic candidate would be more “conservartive” than a Republican candidate. You could certainly find an “independent” third party candidate who is more “coservative” that either (Pat Buchanan was such a choice). But if your plan is to vote for third party candidates, you will, in nearly all cases, be helping elect either the Democrat or the Republican since third party candidates are seldom elected.

What do we have here? A bunch of newbie conservative wanna-bes? Does nobody who posts here actually live in Mesa County? Nobody posting knows who Dana Isham is? Here’s your first hint:
Dana Isham is a man!

Chuckle. Looks like I have been exposed. I did not correct the misconception about my gender because it was immaterial to the discussion. And yes, I am the founder and head of the Rocky Mountain Minutemen, which again, is not pertinent to the issue at hand unless someone attempts to make it so. There was no slight of hand on my part. If I was attempting to obscure my ID, I would never use my first name as a handle.

Mr. Isham - My appologies. However I wound’t change any of my posts (except the gender references).

Typical clueless, uninformed Mesa County Conservatives. I was beginning to think that maybe we had some closet transgender posters who knew more about Isham than humble me.
