My radio career began in 1984 at the age of 15 running Casey Casum’s Top 40 on vinyl for Q93 (now Magic 93.1 KMGJ). I was the “overnight guy” on the weekends and even engineered a few ball games. In 1989, I decided to pursue radio on a larger scale in Phoenix, but it was not meant to be. It was hot! I came back to Grand Junction a year and a half later working, again, for the same radio station, only to leave again in 1992 to pursue a radio career in Denver. I worked for Kool 105 (KXKL) in Denver for a year before the calling of the road (i.e. truck driving for the family bizz) took me away. Of course, a radio person trying a real job does not usually work out. So, once again, I landed back in Grand Junction working for the same radio station, which had become Magic 93.1 KMGJ by that time. I have been here for over 13 years and have loved every minute……well, MOST every minute.
Some of my biggest achievements as a program director include Magic 93.1 being nominated for Radio Station of the Year in markets 101+ in Radio and Records Magazine in 2003, being named one of the best programmers in radio in Radio Ink Magazine and numerous Colorado Broadcaster’s Association awards.
I enjoy spending as much of my free time traveling as much as possible, going on cruises, skiing, camping, fishing, watching sports and enjoying all the great things Colorado has to offer.
