Gary Follett is not one of those guys who complains that he never wins anything. He wins all the time.

Most recently Follett won a $10,000 bedroom makeover from KSTAR 96.1. Follett entered his name into a random drawing at one of the first Farmer’s Markets this summer, then promptly forgot about his entry. Months later, Follett received a call saying he had won the station’s “Neverending Contest.”

Follett and his girlfriend, Rachel Cortez, were treated to a two-day-and-night stay in Ouray while Today’s Home Furniture and Design spackled, painted and transformed the couple’s small bedroom into a sanctuary.

Cortez had sloppily painted an accent in the bedroom rental. Their furniture was mismatched and the bed was less than comfortable. The couple had stamped their feet prints on the wall beside the bed.

“For what they had to work with and what they did, well, they really made it pretty neat,” Follett said.

Interior designers Judy Rogan and Tim Chism painted the walls and ceiling a relaxing sea foam green. They removed the closet doors and hung elegant curtains. They added a new four-poster bed, dresser and bedside tables by Coaster Fine Furniture.

“It’s great. It’s beautiful and comfortable,” Follett said, “and it really makes my $50 couch look bad.”

The couple loves their new sanctuary.

“I’d really like to say thanks to everyone who made this possible,” Follett said, adding that he would never have owned such nice furniture if it hadn’t been for the contest.
